I'm not sure if anyone really understands what a Gay-Sraight Alliance is. We aren't announcing to the world who is gay, and who is not. You may not care if so and so likes boys and is one, but apparenlty, the whole school does, hence the hesitation to join, and the mocking. We are just trying to make homosexuality a more accepted way of life, and ( Read more... )

Sounds like a good idea, I would join if I still went to SHS. It's amazing something like that could even get started. I doubt this would ever happen in a high school in Alabama.

You're right it is amazing. It's also amazing to see so much support. for every person that tears one of those posters down, theres two more who will go to that meeting.

I like people equally. As long as that's what the club helps to do, then it rules.

If it puts gay people on a throne and have people say that it's "Great" that they're gay, I'm definately gonna be annoyed by it.

i dont think its putting gay people on a throne. its gay straight alliance. it could be straight gay alliance, it shouldnt matter. i know that i dont really have the experience of being gay myself, but from what ive been hearing, theres more people who are totally against being gay, then ones that dont care.

dont think im trying to change your opinions, thats the last thing on my mind, i just think that peoples ideas on GSA are a little bit too far fetched. (if thats the right word/s....)

um, pedestal? apparently trying to form a support system at an incredibly oppressive and judgemental school is putting people on a pedestal? wow, ok. how about if you get to the point where even one fucking person in the high school feels safe enough to come out of the closet before you start talking about putting them on pedestals... or were you assuming that in the population of over a thousand people that not even one of them is gay?

Kristen, I think it's fabulous that you're involved in this. If you need anything that I can help with, let me know.

this is a phat idea kristen. the majority of people in high school in maine are really stupid intolerant dicks who would sooner know more about either 1.cars or 2.videogames before having any common sense on sex or gender issues in the world outside their tiny high school bubbles (or ever within them for that matter).

my only comment would be to make a point to embrace whatever instead of just defining "gay" and "straight" as two separate and definate entities and encouraging people to identify with either. i think the biggest problem is that we identify/label shit too much and people alienate each other because of that. when people are as either stupid or ignorant or both as most high schoolers it's tough to get somehting like that accross, though. you usually ahve to dumb it down to something along the lines of, "stop being such an ignorant slutbag!"

well thank you. You'd be suprised at the amount of support we've received, well maybe you wouldnt but i sure was. It seems to me that people today need everything defined no matter what it is. People are so uncomfortable with anything that hasn't been disected and labeled. I'll think it'll be a long time before people if ever, stop defining not just sexuality but everything, but its a great thing to strive for.
