I know this might not be a popular idea with a some of you, but I think it's necessary that we instigate some sort of a curfew. Now, I know the past couple of days have been cause for celebration in some of you, but the carrying on loudly at all hours just isn't going to cut it, mateys. That's why, in order to prevent the sleep deprivation I've ( Read more... )

I, for one, second this. It's a very good way of keeping order, I've found.

I would also like to apply to be exempt, as I'm perfectly capable of behaving myself around alcohol.

It's not about behaving around alcohol. It's about peace and quiet.

And you're an inmate, so of course you wouldn't be exempt.

I think you'll also find me capable of being quiet. Very quiet.

How arbitrary of you. I think you'll find most of the noise being made recently has been by wardens. Make of that what you will.

I don't smegging care who's been making the majority of the noise. No inmate is allowed out after curfew.

Then tell me, Mr Warden, for all your well intentioned zeal, how many wardens have experience enforcing a curfew? How many know the extra work involved and the painstaking checks you have to go through? How many have been there, done that, night in, night out?

I think you'll find noone better qualified than myself. Exempt me, and I can be useful.

Wardens won't need to enforce anything if the Admiral locks us all in at night, now will they?

The problem with that is, oh, people find their way around such simplistic plans.

For example, I could simply stay in the library until five past nine and have free run of the corridors because, ah, all the doors are locked. Curfews are much more complicated than locking a few doors.

This, you see, is why you'd need my help.

Then I suppose your warden would have to see to it tat you were in your quarters at the proper time. You know, do his job and all that nonsense.

Otherwise, I'm sure the Admiral could just "poof" you back to your room. He seems to have some sort of power in that department.

Alternatively, all spaces outside of the living quarters could be denied oxygen after curfew...

And what if my warden, actually like he is, is entirely absent?

Would he be really willing to do that? If he has such powers, it's rather a lowly use for them.

That is certainly the level of creativity required, but knowing this barge, it probably won't be enough.

We have to start somewhere. I will formally submit my request and we'll see what happens next.
