Although I have written RPF before, this is my first attempt at RDJude, please be gentle! The whole situation that has been brought up about Jude not knowing about Robert's baby being born has inspired this series. I'm going to say this now: Do NOT read or comment if you have something nasty to say about the whole situation. This is a work of FICTION and should be treated as such. I'm just trying to have fun with this! :-)
Title: Broken Part 1/6
Author: Lochnessbunny
Pairing: RDJude
Rating: PG-13? (this first chapter is kinda depressing...)
Summary: Jude "deals" with the recent news
Author's Note: This will be a series and this first chapter is kind of short just to give you a feel for what might come. (just dipping my toes in the water so to speak) Please comment if you want, but nothing nasty please! It's all in good fun! :-)
Additional Author's Note: Just as kind of a suggestion, if you listen to music while you read, I recommend listening to the same songs I've listened to while making this series. I have started a playlist here:

Jude was astonished. Not only was he unaware of Robert's baby being born, he had to find out from a random reporter. He probably would have heard about it from Susan, but he doesn't really speak to her a lot and they hadn't seen any of each other in the past 8 months. Whenever he spent time with Robert, they were on set or alone. Which, as he now realizes, was probably all part of Robert's plan.
He still doesn't know what that "plan" entailed, he hadn't spoken to Robert since the Grammys. There was no awkward goodbye, no teary explanation, no heated argument, nothing. In fact, this whole thing would have been a lot easier to handle if there was. Instead, nothing could explain it. Robert just stopped contacting him.
Jude had been racking his brain for the last few weeks for a reason and he couldn't find one. The only thought that was ruminating in his mind was this: "I mean nothing to him."
It was the only logical explanation he could think of, and he tried diligently to think otherwise, but there was no other reason. Robert thought nothing of him. He never did. Not when he smiled at Jude or lovingly cupped his cheek. Not even on that one perfect night they spent together. It was all a game to him, the closeness faked.
Jude spent many sleepless nights crying over him, all of them ending with him drunk and painfully alone, but this was a breaking point. Hearing the news makes Jude snap. After texting Robert his congratulations, he goes straight to his hotel room and collapses on the bed in sobs. He reaches for the bottle of pain medicine the doctor had prescribed him for back pain and swallows them down like candy with a bottle of rum as a chaser.
With the last of his energy, he scribbles out a letter to Sadie and perfectly numb, he stares at the ceiling, waiting to drift away as a lone tear slides down his cheek. As he slips into unconsciousness, he whispers:
"I love you, Robert"
