This will be slightly meaningless to many of you, but "See, amid the Winter's Snow" just came around on the CD player. I sang along, quietly. I teared up somewhat.

This year, I get to sing Beethoven's 9th, the Duruflé Requiem, the final cantata of the Christmas Oratorio, Stravinsky's Les Noces, and Mendelssohn's Elijah. Excuse me, make that "Mendelssohn's Elijah, conducted by Helmuth Rilling."

I meant to advertise this a while back, but it's still a week and change away... I and a large number of other people will be performing the Britten War Requiem twice next weekend: Friday night in Boston at Symphony Hall, and Saturday in New Haven at Woolsey Hall. If you are close to one of those places, you should totally come to this concert.

I am totally OK with the fact that In Honor of Martin Bresnick's 60th Birthday, we are singing a moderately difficult piece of his, which has sucked up a substantial fraction of this semester's already-cramped rehearsal time (for a piece which we are apparently not singing in this Saturday's concert, for some reason).
