Aaaand speaking of moderate Republicans...
David Souter is retiring. Not the first justice I expected to see go during this term, I have to say, but I guess being appointed by G.H.W.B. isn't as much of a "recent arrival" hallmark as it used to be... (I think I'm also thrown off by the fact that Thomas is almost ten years younger than Souter is, on account of having been ridiculously young when first appointed.)
