Okay...I need help.

Okay, so I figured that I could manage with just a plus account until I got a job (which isn't happening any time soon, despite all the jobs I have applied for). Then just now, I discovered that the majority of my userpics are now inactive. I knew that would happen, of course, but somehow I was thinking that the older pics would be the ones to be ( Read more... )

Yes, things could be worse--I could finally end up getting kicked out of the house.
The problem is that I look like a 12-year-old, even when I wear make-up, so people tend to presume that I'm too young to work--i.e., I'm lying about my age, using a fake ID, etc. And since I've never ever held a job before in my life, that tends to just make things worse for me.
The real problem is whether I'll end up getting dropped from my classes if the amount is not paid in full by the deadline--I haven't been able to get a straight answer on that at all from the folks at my college.
The computer works fine, it's just that the down key is completely broken.
I don't really have any friends any more--not counting those folks on the internet that I reguard as my friends--, let alone anyone I would feel comfortable asking for money like that. I really don't like asking people for money unless I know I can pay them back.
Paid account has more room for userpics, that's why I like it--plus the lack of ads is pretty nice too.
At least then I'd be able to get a disability check that I could use to pay for stuff....
Lists are really handy...I like to write my lists in gloomy posts like this one when I get really frustrated.

Wince - yes. 12??? O_O tried a new haircut? more mature clothing? (or something to show an adult versus a child despite first appearance... also - behavior counts for a lot. - not that I'm an expert though - since I haven't even seen you or anything... )... the clothing issue is actually a lot - I was taken for twenty something at 15... - so - a possibility?...

Never had a job??? O_O - is there some kind of system to get people back to work in your country? My friend got help with getting her first job - and now has moved on her own and such... As for paying back - what of doing fanficky stuff? or favors? I paid the rent doing the cleaning while I lived at home for a while. (at my parents btw - its been a while since then though). You'd need people that trust you to do your job. (my eldest sister still owes me a house wash... so...)... As for work - what of doing 'black work'?... as in getting employed to do house stuff and such... might not be much... but its a job... also - your parents might have some contacts/friends that could help you figure out where you could get a job. (many jobs aren't listed, some are listed just cause they have to... so...).... But manual labor... :P .... hmm... pics... lack of adds... hm... the first is quite simply - I'm a creature of habit and as such has used the same pic all the time. Too much of a bother to change it. second... I can live with adds:)

Hehe - as long as the lists are easy enough not to complicate things further:P

As far as I am concerned, I am acting my age (22 years), so it's hard for me to fix the problem when I don't even know what I'm doing in the first place.

I wish--I live in the United States. I have started looking at this site called Odesk as a possibility (I think I can make this outsourcing trend work in my favor, if I can figure out how to "sell myself").
My mother works in a place where you need a college degree before you can get hired, and my dad works for a company that doesn't let him cash his paycheck on a regular basis (he's holding like two checks right now, if I remember correctly).
I've never heard of that sort of thing being called "black work", and I live in the South (well, not the Deep South, but Virginia is still south of the Mason-Dixie Line).

Hmm... try asking a stranger or a new acquaintance to guess your age, and then question them why they thought so. (like those programs from the UK I think). Family and friends has this annoying ability to use a white lie rather than to say possible challenging or hurtful truths (like how much they 'love' an ugly knitted jumper....).... pretty useful I guess - but not to figure out things like that.. But... if you only dress professional it really should not matter... I think. (check the link below)

Ah - I'm 24... probably pretty lucky I live in a country with a proper welfare system... kinda like Canada I guess (I think). Hmm... I had some lessons on that 'sell myself'... hmm... Don't lie, show an interest in the job from before (as in learn about it so that when possible questioned you can answer...the last is how I failed my first and only proper job interview - on the second I got it on the spot... cause they just needed people that badly - hence the homeshare hint... if you like people that is - it take sa caring person to be able to have the patience and care required for special needs people... Amazing though they are.)... and that I can compare myself to a present where how ones wrapping is is important to make people decide if they should accept or not. Well... you should at least know lots of that... but - figure out your good sides, use http://jobsearch.about.com/ and try to read there how to get those who hire interested in having you work there... despite lack of previous jobs and all. (about.com is a brilliant page as a whole if you haven't used it before - just click the links to learn lots more - there are vids and text and stuff - and simplified in lists:D (some of it)).... btw - my best friend was 24 before she got her first job - shocked me that she had not started making that effort... Which you obviously have:) even if you've yet to succeed in finding one.

Hmm - sounds interesting... though working from home - the discipline you'll need O_O. If it works for you that'll be brilliant. ... as for your parents - what of cleaners there? I mean - even if the 'real' workers there need a college degree - do they or could she ask for them to give you a job on a trial basis?... as for your dad... Sounds like a really risky job to have. I mean - just WHY can't he cash out?... seems like a risky job to have if something should happen to the place he works... Well - I meant not just there - my first job was one a friend of my mother (or a friend of a friend) had heard about... so... ask again. (and look on that page)...

Oh - 'black work' is just how I translated 'svart arbeid' - er - what I meant was undeclared work. (did not realize that it was a saying...). So it has nothing to do with nationality or ones 'race'... even if many east European people advertise the fact that they can do carpentry, painting ++ for a much lower price... - the first of which is quite risky... both actually - with windows and all.

Did you fix the tuition issue? - read a comment about it - but unsure if its 'fixed' or you are loosing your place at the college tomorrow...??

My mom figured that I wouldn't get picked to serve on an actual jury when I got jury duty a couple months ago (she figured that I would look "too young")--then on the very last day of the term, I got called in, and was in fact selected to serve on the jury that day. I wasn't wearing any make-up and my hair was down, like it usually is. So I don't know what it is that makes people think I'm younger than I really am. I love making people I've just met for the first time guess my age, and they usually guess incorrectly--I've only had one person guess anywhere near my age (she guessed 20 when I was actually 21), and the only reason she got that close was because she was like me--people tended to think she looked young for her age.

I have apparently forgotten that I dropped out of an online course last fall because I lacked the discipline to log in regularly enough back then, because not only am I looking to work from home, I've signed up for another online course (at least Terrorism/Counter-terrorism is a lot more interesting class than Basic Counseling Skills I, so I think I'm probably actually good there).

I'd rather not--it's bad enough that I can't visit sites like Wikileaks (I only used to go to these sites because I mess with graphing calculator programming as a hobby) while I'm at home because of my mom--she doesn't need to deal with the hassle of getting in trouble if they thought she was on Wikileaks when it's actually just me learning how to hack graphing calculator models I will never own.
As for my dad, he's only staying there until he gets a new job somewhere else--like where my mom works, for one.

As far as I know, "black work" isn't an actual descriptor (or as you referred to it, 'saying'), however, it does fit in with what you were trying to say anyways. Please note that I am not being racist (at least not intentionally), I'm just stating the truth as I perceive it to be.

Fixed it, yes. I gave up a class so that they could get the loan through. I have to go back on Monday to pick up my books.
