I just signed up to participate in a truly incredible event. You may or may not already know how passionate I’ve been about cycling lately. Ever since Carrie and James joined forces and got me the new bicycle, I’ve been riding every day.
Well, what you may not know is that cancer has taken my stepmother, my stepfather and tried to take my young niece who fought and survived. There are many others who I know who have either lost or continue a daily battle with cancer or the threat of it as well. Hence, when I heard about the LIVESTRONG Challenge, which benefits the Lance Armstrong Foundation, I knew I had to participate by riding in it.
Over 1.3 million people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer this year alone. Three out of four families in America will be faced with caring for a family member with cancer. Mine has tragically been one of those families.
The Lance Armstrong Foundation was founded to provide practical information and tools for people living with cancer. Their mission is to inspire and empower people affected by cancer through advocacy, public health and research programs.
I need to raise at least $500 to participate in the Challenge, but I hope to raise $5,000. It’s a big goal, but I’m taking a big step. I would appreciate your support.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this letter and understanding how important this cause and this event are to me.
