So this year I am attempting a per-episode recap thing where I post some thoughts, a screencap, a quote and a word from each new Fringe episode. Why? Because Fringe is amazeballs and if you're not watching wtfffff I capslock IN YO FACE akjfv;skvgSHFVHFVKHEVF;KHVWATCHFRINGE!!!!!!1
Srsly folks, it's the greatest show currently on the telly.
Also these will be unlocked for maximum Fringey fun times. :)
THOUGHTS:
I luff Anna Torv. That's right, LUFF! WITH TWO EFFS!!! Because seriously, she was throwing her NIDA skillz all over this episode and it felt gooood. I can't get enough of how she plays the two Olivias and the fact that Altlivia is just so obviously Olivia but Slightly Different, constantly blows my mind. It's a brilliant study in character (as well as acting) and I want to violate a thesaurus just so I can find enough synonyms to properly praise Anna for her brilliant work on this show! Here's what I've come up with → GURL, YOU GOOD!
That opening...Olivia's line about dinner, seeing her track marks...Oh man. :'( And of course the most important part is that she escaped on her own AGAIN!
Someone on my flist mentioned the significance of the color yellow in Mrs. Dunham's house; yellow being our Olive's favorite color pre-cortexiphan. So the fact that Altlivia helped her mother paint her house yellow because she thought it was more cheerful is hurtful in its awesome. And it's so understated within the show (they know their audience is smart enough to pick up on that) that I felt it worth repeating.
It's no secret that one of my favorite and most crackiest things to come out of Fringe is the fact that Altlivia is an Olympic sharpshooter. It's significant that she shoots one-handed vs. Olivia's two handed stance (Anna talked about this herself), and I guess that is why Olivia was surprised she made the craycray shots at the gas station. (Because on a normal day, Olivia can shoot a mothafucker down! She Dunhams them, OK?!)
So let's discuss the pen metaphor at the end with Peter and the government guy. My guess is that not everything needs fixing. What do you guys think?
And finally, I am beyond excited to meet Altlivia and can't be happier that we spend equal time in each universe. Thank you, Show! (Btw, my guess is that Olivia will fluctuate between her memories and Altlivia's, otherwise two Altlivia's is not interesting enough. I think they'll flip-flop in terms of their beliefs towards the end, so we have to have Olivia be herself to come to that conclusion on her own.)
