Day 4 - Your Favourite Multi-chaptered/Epic Length Fic [The Themes]
Another really tough one! And I'm not increasing the number of recs by one each day on purpose ^^'

Title: My Heart, In Segments

Summary: Berwald is a man left alone, and Peter was a kid left behind. Berwald's not really the perfect dad, Peter's not really innocent anymore, and Tino's not really sure he's ready for something so real. But, maybe... Maybe it's time. -SuFin, foster care AU-
Why?
This really pulls at the heart strings, and it's nice that although the SuFin thread is a fairly significant one with the plot it isn't the main focus of the fic; the struggle to adjust for Peter and Berwald is played very realistically, and it's very easy to sympathise/empathise with all of the characters. My pairing of choice for the Nordics isn't usually SuFin, but this is probably my favourite fic for them.

Summary: Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone has their own muse. Perfectly common. But Axel made the mistake of allowing his muse to almost get into Roxas's pants, and that, in itself, is not common at all. AkuRoku, slight RikuRoku
Why?
Unfortunately, the author of this fic has gone on permanent hiatus and doesn't plan to come back to writing this fic, but I would still highly recommend reading it regardless! Axel is a little more subdued than I'm used to seeing him, but it fits well with the story and doesn't seem OOC at all. The idea of the muses and the myth that's been tied in is also a refreshing and novel idea, and it's a real shame that it's been put on hold.

Why?
So many things to say about this one; firstly, the overall storyline of this one is a bit of a mindfuck, but a mindfuck of the best kind! There are two main threads to this, which begin to merge a bit in more recent chapters, and more being introduced and added as we progress through the plot. Roxas' relationship with Hayner and the others in Twilight Town is absolutely perfect and exactly how I would imagine it, and just as you begin to settle yourself in this it's all pretty much torn away; this one keeps you on the edge of your seat and questioning motives all over the place! It's an ongoing venture, and I really can't wait until the next chapter!

Summary: Denmark is captured by the Black Mercy, an alien plant that slowly kills it's victims by showing them a dream of their deepest desires. Based on the Superman comic "For The Man Who Has Everything".
Why?Another dark one, with literal mindfuck this time; I haven't read the comic in question but it's easy enough to follow without having done so. This one has your heart aching as you see the stark contrast between Denmark's dream and the reality, and the phrase 'emotional rollercoaster' as never been more apt. I don't want to give too much away so I won't say much more save that it's not for the faint of heart!
