de-aged Sulu fic

Someone wanted Kirk/Sulu with de-aged Sulu this weekend and a couple of people filled it before I finished mine, so I threw in some Chekov for good measure.

Title: Code 78

Rating: PG-13

Oh my goodness.

I love the way you wrote Hikaru's de-aged thought processes. It was so easy to imagine what he must have been like as a little boy. And Pavel and Kirk sort of passive-aggressively fighting over him, and Hikaru seeing right through them... and Pavel's description of how Kirk wants what other people have... and oh, JIM. <3

The ending is so great, sweet and romantic and also kind of complicated, because of course this is you and it has to leave some lingering questions.

Thanks! I love writing them as kids. ;___; And complicating it up, lol. Originally I saw that prompt and thought I'd just write like 1000 words of Jim snuggling Hikaru when he was scared, then I thought, 'WAIT, I CAN INVOLVE PAVEL AND MAKE IT HURTY AND DARK' ;))

Yeah, I'm glad to leave lingering questions here -- I guess this is like a preview of the BIG FIC, though no one gets de-aged in that one ...

ah, the flip side of the triangle! it's all about sulu, of course, but i'm quite a fan of him chasing kirk a bit in this one.

good work!

Yes! I think when I wrote about Hikaru taking care of little Jim and Pavel I knew that I'd eventually end up writing the inverse. :))

I'm always a fan of Sulu chasing Kirk, though I guess I hardly ever write it because he's too ~~proud~~ or something -- anyway, thanks so much for reading!

awww... sad Kirk. But then the sad Kirk get's better, which probably means a sad Pavel. Aww, sad Pavel.... A lovely story.

I think Kirk's default is 'sad' in my mind, like even all his confidence and bravery grow out of ~deep sadness~ ;__;

Yeah, I think Hikaru would like to believe that he can shelter Pavel from sadness even in the midst of all this, but Pavel is a genius, Hikaru, HE KNOWSSS.

Thanks for reading!

This was breathtaking -- it was fascinating to watch Hikaru's mind and perceptions change, to watch Jim and Pavel through his eyes.

"When the keptin sees that someone else wants something, he tries to get it for himself. Not to be mean, I don't think, he just can't help it. Look at Uhura and Spock, the way he flirts with both of them, to infuriate the other. If he sees that I like you, he's going to do the same to me, and maybe you won't be annoyed like them, maybe you will like it."

That made me suck in a breath. I'm going to be thinking about it, and the ending, for quite awhile.

Thank you! I like the idea of someone who's been de-aged trying to hang on to their adulthood out of pride, and finding that they're fighting a losing battle. :))

I wanted to have the ending inspire ~further thoughts ~, so that's awesome to hear -- I'm writing a longer fic about these three and this is kind of tied in with what I'm thinking about thematically in that one (minus the de-aging), so it's like ... a little snatch of the ~larger situation~, I guess.

I love this. I love how Hikaru gets more childlike as the fic goes on, and Kirk just breaks my heart.

And I love the ending. Hmmm, fandom needs more Kirk/Sulu, I think.

Thank you!! I think of all of them, Hikaru would resist acting like a child for the longest period of time, loll, he has his ~~pride~~

I'm glad you liked the ending -- I started to flesh it out a little and then I decided I didn't want to get into answering a lot of questions, and just kind of leave it there for now. :)

Fandom does need more Kirk/Sulu ... I don't know if I'll ever write straight up Kirk/Sulu without Chekov, but my next fic about the three of them has a lot of pure(ish) Kirk/Sulu at the front end.
