Abeni Lorenn 4/5forthebothofusAugust 19 2011, 17:14:02 UTC
4. Personality: Abeni is a very hard woman. She's calculated and ever wary of her surroundings and the people around her. Every decision she makes is a life and death situation, and if a few heads need to roll to get her through, then Abeni will do what must be done. Survival is her key focus, and when Zachariah comes into the picture, keeping him alive becomes vital to her simply because without him to watch her back, the plan will fail. By the time of her death, while never stated out loud, Zachariah has become her sole friend and only trusted person.
She has little worth in people, having grown up in a rough neighborhood and seeing first hand just how horrid humanity could be. The few who she deemed worthy were fiercely protected and well respected by her. She has morals, however vague they might be, and never did Abeni take a job that would directly harm an innocent. Abeni might be a little awkward around kids, but that doesn't mean she doesn't like them. Motherhood is not something she's ever considered.
Contrary to popular belief, Abeni does have a sense of humor and can smile without breaking her face. She simply chooses to put a mask on all emotions and rarely show what she's really feeling. Letting people see that side of her gives away more than she would like and potentially reveals weaknesses that might get her killed. She doesn't hesitate to inflict harm if it will help her reach her goal, and will kill in whatever manner is most effective at the time. As far as she's concerned, she's just surviving.
5. Previous Game Developments: None.
6. Appearance:
Abeni stands at 5'6" and has a pale complexion and hazel eyes. Her hair is dark brown and falls to midway down her back. It's got a bit of a loose curl to it, a natural wave that keeps it messy at the best of times. Her build is slim, still agile but now a combination of malnutrition and starvation have her looking a little too skinny.
Her hands are rough and calloused from the constant fighting, and the back of her knuckles are laced with tiny scars. The rest of her follows a similar suit, with bruises and scars marking the bulk of her body from head to toe. More often than not, Abeni wears a serious and sometimes cold expression. Years of fighting will do that to you.
The clothes she wears are worn, boots ground in at the heel and grip gone in some places from the near constant movement. Her long pants and tank are both covered in dirt and blood, the shirt upon her entry to the Keep bearing a few extra tears from where the knife stabbed on through, and a lot more blood from where the blade pierced her skin and killed her dead.
7. Abilities: Abeni is a skilled fighter with knowledge in hand to hand combat. She has no particular style, having learned and perfected over the years by watching others and picking up tricks and skills in her own fights. She's excellent at watching people and replicating the action, so learning a technique she's seen in the past probably wouldn't take her long to work out and get the hang of. Even then, Abeni would likely put her own spin on the skill.
She's excellent with guns, capable with using handguns, pistols, rifles and shotguns with no issue. Abeni does however have a preference for smaller guns than big ones, with pistols falling into her preferred zone. Knives and blades are also easy enough to use, though she's had no training and relies on what she worked out or witnessed in Deadworld to use them effectively. The key point is that Abeni is a survivor, and even without a standard weapon, she would still find a way to use what she has around her as a means of defending herself or others. Abeni is quite good at building traps and setting them, as well as moving quickly and quietly or holding still when she must.
8. Languages: Common.
9. Items: Pants, tank top, boots, knife, pistol. Yeah that's about it.
10. Weapons: A hunting knife (blunted), a pistol with 5 shots left (it will shoot paint balls).

11. Writing sample - Third Person Prose:
Abeni waited behind the crumbled ledge, taking care to keep herself out of sight but still able to view the spectacle in the street below. The man she saw was evidently new, lost and confused as he stumbled his way through the danger ridden streets in search of... whatever. Hope, she decided, which was rare in a newcomer to a place like Deadworld. The criminals that usually got thrown into the game were the scum of the world, long given up on anything good and seeking only to win.
Where normally she would wait, hide from those around her and blend in with the surroundings until the immediate danger had passed before moving on, there was something different about this man. He did not seem a killer, unlike the bulk of the twisted minds that lurked within the walls of their current prison. He would not thrive on the game they were forced to play, at least not yet. Abeni could only conclude that the man she watched was alike to herself, at least to some degree. It was enough for her to take a chance and remain in place, eager to watch just a little more and perhaps, if he proved himself worthy, approach.
The time to think was cut short, the shadows from the other side of the street shifting with movement. From her place at the ledge, Abeni could see the thug crawling from the dark, a crude, silver blade in his hand. His target was the same as hers. The newcomer, her chance for an ally. If she could save him, talk to him, then perhaps Abeni could regain a hint of security in this place.
Movement careful and quiet, she moved from her hiding place and, keeping to the back of both the thug and the man he intended to kill. The gun in her hands was heavy, and yet familiar and comforting. She could shoot the thug, but the sound of gunfire would only draw more and ruin her chance to approach the new arrival. If he were to flee, Abeni would have to take him down before he gave her location away.
Her approach was silent, footsteps carefully placed to match the steps of the thug. By the time both men realized she was there, Abeni had her gun raised to beat the attacker across the head with the butt of the weapon. The crack was near sickening, the thugs nose evidently broken by the blow and a spray of crimson flowed as his head snapped with the impact. Before he could regain composure, Abeni knocked him to the ground, the gun in her hand turning with expert ease that she might aim the barrel at his head. Finger on the trigger and ready to fire, she realized that the attacker was already choking on his own blood.
There was nothing she would do to prevent that. Her cold gaze turned to the man she'd saved.
"Get up," Abeni ordered. "If you want to survive this, come with me. Do as I say, keep your head down and stay quiet. If you so much as think about attacking me, know that I can and will kill you."
While small in stature in comparison, Abeni still commanded attention. She was not one to be messed with. When the man still living gave a shaky nod, the woman nodded in return. Relieved as she was, she would not show it. "Wise choice. Now move it."
12. Writing sample - First Person: I've always been reckless. Blame the fucked up start that I had but I never really learned about taking risks. I see what I want and I go for it. Not a damn thing is gonna stop me.
Except for that one time, when things didn't go to plan. The reason why I'm still alive is that I'm good at reading people and I'm thorough. I pay attention to all the crap that people miss.
Call it habit, but I'm always looking for what I can use. If it's not gonna aid me in some way, I'm not interested.
[She makes a frustrated sound and throws down the quill.]
Why am I even writing this shit. I'm done with this.
13. Tattoo: Around her right thigh.
14. Room Preference: Somewhere near Zachariah. \o\
