Jael had already checked on her kids three times that night and still she couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling that was twisting her stomach into knots. None of the children had moved all night but she couldn’t help checking them once again. Making sure to block the light this time so she didn’t wake anyone, she cracked the door to see them all asleep.
Jael sighed and shut the door, twisting her fingers together in worry. Usually she didn’t worry this much when the men went out on sorties, but this was one was the closest they had ever been to Gerasimos’ citadel.
Behind her, the door opened and then closed before she could turn around completely. Gavriil stood at the door, breathing heavily and splattered with blood. Jael gaped at him as he strode towards her, not resisting when he grabbed her arm and began to tug her to the door.
“Come, Evangelos was badly injured and needs your help.” Gavriil sounded impatient, but she stopped and tapped his arm to get his attention. When he looked at her, Jael pointed to her feet, then back at the table in the center of the room where her medical pack was sitting. Gavriil let her go almost reluctantly, watching her as Jael hastily shoved her feet into her boots and grabbed her coat and medical bag. Jael glanced back at the door leading to her children’s room as she shut the front door, but decided she would just deal with her angry kids tomorrow. Considering how Gavriil was acting, Evangelos needed her quickly.
Gavriil grabbed her arm again as soon as they were outside and started to run. Jael allowed him to lead her, ignoring the anxiety she was starting to feel again. As they reached the checkpoint gate separating the slums and the upper class homes, Jael automatically slowed, not wanting to go up the steps to the door that Gavriil was pulling her towards. Pausing for a moment at the bottom of the stairs, Gavriil shifted so he was holding Jael’s hand.
“I know you don’t want to go up there, but Evangelos needs you. Everyone else scattered and he’s all alone up there. If you leave, he’ll die before I can carry him back to Yannis’ house.”
Jael looked at Gavriil with wide eyes, holding his hand tightly for a long moment before nodding. He gave her a lopsided smile and squeezed her hand before pulling her up the stairs and through the unlocked door at the top. The clean, fresh air was so different from the slums and Jael took a deep breath as Gavriil led her a couple of blocks away and down an alley where Evangelos was slumped between the wall of a building and a dumpster close to the other end. Jael didn’t even slow as she fell to her knees beside him, ignoring the pain from scraping her knees on the concrete.
Jael reached out to touch Evangelos, freezing as she realized he wasn’t breathing. She looked up at Gavriil, who grabbed her upper arms and pulled her up into a standing position.
Jael covered her face with her hands and buried her head into Gavriil’s chest, not resisting as he pulled her away from the body. Suddenly, Gavriil grabbed her wrists and pulled her hands away from her face, “Now li-“
Jael flinched away from Gavriil as something wet splattered against her stomach and thighs. She looked up at him, and then followed his eyes as he looked down, only to see a broadsword sticking out of his stomach. Horrified, Jael barely managed to catch Gavriil as the person behind him shoved him off the sword and into her arms. Kneeling down with him, Jael looked up to someone she had never thought she’d see again.
Kleitos was casually wiping the blood off his sword, a satisfied look on his face, “Hello darlin’. Haven’t seen you in quite some time. You didn’t think you could possibly escape from me in this city, did you?”
For a moment, Jael just stared at him. Realizing Gavriil had stopped breathing, Jael carefully placed his body on the ground and stood so she could look Kleitos straight in the eye. The next second, two soldiers came out of nowhere and grabbed her arms. As she knocked the first two away there were several more surrounding her, grabbing her arms and legs. She kept struggling and had almost freed herself when something smashed into the back of her head, causing her to collapse a split second before everything went dark.

Where am I now? Last I remembered I was on that shore.
Matt? Matt, please be here. Jin? Joe? ...Jinx? Is there anyone else from the Elegante here?
If not, my name is Jael. Would someone be so kind as to explain what this place is and why I'm here? Or show me where I can get food and clothing? Any help would be appreciated.
