what do i do with this goat?

i never know what to post anymore. i view my Friends page, but now when i log in to Livejournal, i'm reminded that i haven't updated in 12 weeks.

this is probably because not much has changed. i'm still working at UMCP. the job is fun. i do enjoy working in the university atmosphere. i've been doing some training to get certified in Crestron programming. Crestron is like a glorified universal remote. you touch a button (say, DVD) on a touch screen which talks to a Crestron processor. your DVD player and television turn on, your shades lower, and your lights dim. there are about 170 certified programmers in the world, so this is good.

once Danielle gets a job i'm going to move closer to work. there's just something about driving 70-80 miles round trip everyday that doesn't appeal to me.

i need to do more music. you know, more than none. i'm somewhat jealous of Mike's music challenge that he's taking on, but i don't think i would have been able to take the challenge myself. i tend to take months on one song. part of my problem, i think, is that i used to make all my drum beats in Reason, which has nothing more than a very basic drum machine. Reason made it so that i could easily and quickly make drums beats and get the groundwork laid for a song. i outgrew Reason, but i haven't been able to find that same simplicity in any other drum machine.

Mike, if you read this, what do you do about drums? i hate step sequencers and can't understand why anybody would use them. i can't go back to Reason without updating it (Reason 2.5 for Panther on PPC Macs doesn't play super nice with Leopard and Intel Macs with no updates) and i would miss the flexibility of other drum machines.

speaking of Macs, i finally completed the upgrades to my computer now that i have some money. so i've got a nice 10 GB of RAM and over 2 TB of HDD space.
