Today's classes were not bad, and the weather has followed suit.
We got back the exams for Machine Design.
And that's enough about that, haha.
Between classes I played my guitar a bit, which was nice.
I'm working on deriving some interesting chord forms. I also like hitting notes that are equivalent to an adjacent open-string (so it's like hitting two of the same note), it gives it a nice echo/reverberation type of effect.
System Design started discussion about thermal systems...even though I took Thermodynamics last semester, it feels like it was ages ago.
Once class had finished I went by the Student Union and went over to the blood-drive that was being run by Blood Source.
They had a deal going with Baskin Robins: Pint for a Pint. So now I've got some delicious ice cream in my future.
I also ran into a musician who had stopped by now and then while I play guitar with Zephyr. His name is Kevin.
We talked about guitar playing, which led to callus developed on the fingers, which led to him showing the ones on his hand from Kendo.
And then we started talking martial arts.
We discussed principles of things, and eventually he came to ask what I practiced.
Apparently he's heard of the Bujinkan, though he pronounced it wrong.
Then he brought into question the credibility of it as a martial art. For only practicing martial arts for 3 months he was pretty arrogant in the way he talked.
But I could care less, as it only reflects poorly upon himself.
I remember when I first saw the flier at CSUS for "Authentic Ninjutsu"
And when I went in it was with an arrogant mentality; "teach me how to throw shuriken and ninja-vanish!"
But as I practiced more and more I started to feel the legitimacy of it, which is why I stayed as long as I did.
Another testament to the legitimacy of it is the physical power it bestows a person such as it did for Brian Dunbar. However that is also what came to drive me away from it all: giving somebody of his character that kind of capacity without instilling the discipline to use it properly.
It's crazy to think there was actually a period of time I enjoyed training with him.
Once I was done giving blood and was on my way out of school, I ran into Lyn's sister Deanna as she was on her way to take photos of her art for her portfolio.
Deanna's main theme is this little toy robot of hers, which has a clock in its belly [which I have found is called a "Tokibot"]
But when she illustrates it the piece in the middle has none of the clock-contents within.
I'll see if I can get my favorite painting she's done, it lightens my mood up when I see it.
Eventually Lyn arrived too, and all three of us hung out a bit.
Once we got to their apartment we watched an episode of Avatar, a nice way to wrap up the night.
