Girls room redo

I found a picture plan similar to what I want to do for the girls bed http://www.popularmechanics.com/home_journal/woodworking/1273186.html Certainly with some slight modifications - for simplicity and cost savings. This one appears to be several layers of platforms which we will cut down on in our design. But this will give people the general idea/inspiration.

Remember we will be using the baby/toddler mattresses so we won't have the length of a twin mattress. Instead of making the bottom sit on a platform though it will sit more on the floor so the opening for shelving will be just that an opening rather than a shelf with a bottom. Also at the foot of the bed will be the actual shelf for shoe cubby storage. We are going to continue to keep their bed in an L position with their heads together so this will save some space but still allow for a bit more storage if we decide to get baskets for underneath.

Big Questions remain: 1. Plywood or MDF and 2. Paint white or stain

Still not ready to give my girls up for a week, but I am very excited about working on this project with Brad and the big reveal to the girls (though all the details will not be done when they return just the big changes).

Also, to give me a break and romance me, my sweet husband asked me to go see the new Harry Potter with me sometime next week after work.
