(Happy) Friday the 13th! (?)

May 13, 2011 14:29

Today is an unlucky day for Leprechauns, who we celebrate on May 13th...

Because today is ALSO the only Friday the 13th we'll have in 2011!

"So we're celebrating Friday the 13th instead of Leprechauns?" you cry, "But why celebrate such an unlucky day?!" Well, while traditionally unlucky, some have come to embrace Friday the 13th--and not just because we're all thankful it's Friday. ^_~

From its supposed origins as the day of the first murder in the Bible (ie. Cain killing his brother Abel), to buildings with no "unlucky" thirteenth floor, Friday the 13th films, and people who turn bad luck upside down and see today as especially lucky for them, Friday the 13th has come a long way.

What does Friday the 13th mean for you and your characters? Share your stories of love and luck--the good, the bad, and the ugly!

Riddle me this: Does luck of the Irish cancel out "unlucky" 13?

challenge, friday the 13th, admin
