May 6th is National Tourist Appreciation Day!

Happy National Tourist Appreciation Day, everyone! Today, May 6th, we celebrate tourists!

Tourists work hard for the money to take time off and go exploring--whether it be in their own hometowns or "exotic" places that are oceans away. Tourists take vacations to find adventure and relaxation--and, of course, prime photo spots! Locals may view them with amusement, scorn, or indifference, but however we see them the other 364 days of the year, today we will view them with celebration.

We celebrate them for choosing to spend when money is tight, just to see what we see every day; for injecting their own "exoticism" into our everyday, humdrum lives; and for reminding us that our "humdrum" is actually pretty darn interesting--and that in every place is a kind of magic, if only we'll stop a moment to really look.

Help us celebrate tourists! Tell us your traveling stories!

I hope you took pictures on your trip!
