1. Cleaning Day: It's Cleaning Day in the Chinese Calendar, so I cleaned, I dusted my bookcase which through a miracle paralleling immaculate birth, has collected DUST BUNNIES since I've cleaned it last month. A thin layer is understandable, but DUST BUNNIES? In a month? Somehow dust got into my hair even though I'm a head taller than my

China right now, is like the Depression Era Canada but worse. In Depression Era Canada, young men unemployed and unmarried were Trouble. In Present Day China, it's even worse, because of the Great Gender Imbalance...I can't remember though, if so many young men were unmarried during the 30s because they can't afford to, or if there was a gender imbalance, Canada in the past had much more men than women, so much that at one point back in New France, orphan girls (having reached their teens) would be shipped over from Europe.
It's especially when considering WHY there is a gender imbalance, sexism combined with the one child policy, parents who abort their would be girl child, or leave them on the streets, or throttle, are probably not going to raise a man who would respect woman. Modern China has a LOT of bad luck, in that it seem that everything modern that was introduce lead to a bad effect. During its times of great changes, Japan and Britain had the advantage of isolation from outside interference, China did not. The Drug Trade with mass produced opium was introduced and swamped China before it can adapt. Ancient China, like Ancient Europe, was actually very alike in that their Supreme Ruler actually doesn't have much power over the populace it had little power to control. Ancient Europe manage to work out a democracy before the minority in power had access to guns and tanks...China did not.
...and so, Ironically, many modernizing technologies were not agents of progressive change in China, but rather tools for those in power to Keep Things The Same. If it weren't for modern military, Mao wouldn't have been able to do so much damage. If it weren't for scans that allows people to tell whether they were carrying girls or boys, the gender imbalance wouldn't be so Great...there will be those who kill their girls after their births, but it still wouldn't be so Great an imbalance.
My parents thinks that it's a sweet deal for women in China because they are so rare, what they don't understand is, it's not sweet for women, it's sweet for those in power who has power and over them. In India, women are being rented out by their husbands, to richer man. Less of us doesn't make us more powerful...if anything, it tends to be the inverse!
