    "Dear Dumbles,

What is this 'spring break' I keep hearing about, and why don't we have it?

    Signed,
    Wants a Break"

    Dear Wants a Break,

I hope you enjoy your Easter hols.

    Yours,
    Albus

    "Dumbledore,

Is it common to think you might be placed in the wrong house?

    -Confused Gryffindor"

    Dear Confused Gryffindor,

It certainly is not uncommon. Part of it is the weight of expectations that being a member of our house might bring - perhaps we do not view ourselves as brave or noble. But the Hat sends us to the house we fit best, and what he sees in our minds tells him what we value, and what we aspire to be, and he chooses not to send us to the house we are but the house we could best grow to be.

    Yours,
    Albus

    "Dear Dumbledore,

I heard that Harry Potter's sweat from Quidditch practice can cure incurable diseases. Is that true?

    Sincerely,
    Someone sweating the small stuff"

    Dear Sweating the Small Stuff,

Might I suggest finding a Ravenclaw and testing this theory?

    Yours,
    Albus

    "Dear Dumbles,

What's one question you've always wished someone would ask you?

    -Just Curious"

    Dear Just Curious,

    This one.

    Yours,
    Albus

    Write to Dumbles
You can write to your headmaster here; Dumbledore will try to respond to all letters, but there may be some delay before he gets to yours. All letters dealt with in strictest confidence.

If you would like to write an article for a future issue of the Daily Prophet, please comment at the signup sheet.

Lovers of art and graphics, here is what's been happening in terms of graphics and art at HiH since the last edition. Let's start things off with sortedchallenge, shall we? Challenge 10 was an icon challenge and Hufflepuff swept up the points! Hufflepuff's Nikki/nowheretogo26 and Kristine/flipflop_diva placed 1st and 2nd, while Krystal/autumn_mist of Slytherin placed 3rd. Caitie/caitieness of Hufflepuff received the award for "best crop".

Are you looking for bigger graphics? Challenge 11 might be the thing for you. Nikki/nowheretogo26 of Hufflepuff placed 1st again with a header featuring Bellatrix Lestrange.

Kristine/flipflop_diva of Hufflepuff placed 2nd, while Slytherin's Olivia/deshi_basara placed 3rd. The award for "best use of text" went to Christa/dontjudgeme of Ravenclaw. Take a second and stop by the result post to see all of the winning graphics.

Challenge 12 brought us some great love bar graphics. Slytherin made their presence known in this challenge by winning every placement except for 1st place, which went to Kristine/flipflop_diva of Hufflepuff. Slytherin's Tiffany/fangss and Krystal/autumn_mist placed 2nd and 3rd, while Yulia/yu_lia received the award for "best image selection".

Over at hogwartsicons, Kristine/flipflop_diva posted some nicely textured House Pride and Hybrid Pride banners.

Come and take a look at the other banners and leave some comments for Kristine right here

hh_sugarquill has been picking up a little bit since the last edition. Hufflepuff's Noelia/sickle_girl shared with us a mixed medium drawing of a young Helga Hufflepuff.

Stop by Noelia's post to leave some comments.

I'm off for this edition of the Daily Prophet, but do take the time to check out our art and graphic communities. Keep on sharing your wonderful pieces of art and you might find yourself in the spotlight next time!

Worn out from Hogsmeade? I hope not, because there are some great Clubs activities going on right now!

If you like coloring, Shutterbug's Pimp My Camera is for you. Color in one of the templates provided by tonight, April 14, 10pm UTC.

The Ministry is hosting an election for the next Minister of Magic. Submit your candidate to We Need a New Minister by tonight, April 14, 11:59pm UTC.

We all like Harry Potter fic, right? For the latest Sorters Anon activity, submit a drabble of a conversation the Sorting Hat had with a Harry Potter character in their head (except for Harry, since we already heard that one!). Deadline is April 17, 11:59pm UTC.

The latest History of Magic activity is investigating HiH's past. In Bring Me (A Piece of History), you can leave a prompt for people to find or find the piece of HiH history yourself. Deadline is April 22, 12am UTC.

Some potion labels need updating! Design and submit a label for Potions Club's Popular Potion Labels activity by April 23, 3:59am UTC.

Divination Club's current activity is all about cats. Practice Ailuromancy and use cats' movements to predict the future by April 23, 11:59pm UTC.

Restricted Section is hosting a 20x20 icon or drabble challenge this month! If you'd like to participate, make your claim here and submit your icons or drabbles here by April 25, 11:59pm UTC.

You can find all of these activities and more by checking the current tag or the latest weekly roundup.

Let's check out some of the recent results as well.

If you participated in Young Death Eaters' Death Eater Adventure, Steph/lotrangel17 made a banner for you. Go pick yours up!

Restricted Section's Cover It Up had members design new covers for wizarding books. Kristine/flipflop_diva of Hufflepuff snagged first place with the following entry.

Transfiguration Club's Build-A-??? had members put together random shapes to create something. Yulia/yu_lia of Slytherin was voted the best design for her entry below.

For History of Magic's Create a Ghost, Alice/superficiality of Slytherin came up with a particularly amusing ghost.

    Ghost Giant Squid
    Age: (at death) 15
Cause of Death: Fight with a whale.
Currently resides: In the Great Lake, haunting the Giant Squid.
    Hogwarts House: (if applicable) n/a
Brief history: Ghost Giant Squid was the Giant Squid's lover, but got into a horrible tangle with a whale and was KILLED. The Giant Squid swears he hears Ghost Giant Squid's squeaks on dark nights.
Five personality traits: Wet, giant, loyal, defensive, hungry

Get more results in the results tag.

    New Rosters!
The following clubs have new leaders and thus new rosters. If you want to make sure you get credit for your bonus items and/or want to leave an activity suggestion, make sure you sign them! Owl Post Secret, Healers' Association of Hogwarts, and Divination Club.

    Where dost the cupcakes go?

Hogwarts officials have been trying to keep this on the down-low, but apparently food is being stolen from the kitchens at an alarming rate. Particularly cupcakes and cookies. A group of Hufflepuffs with crumbs on their chins denied that it was them when they were questioned, but we're not too sure we believe them.

    Animagi Run Awry

It looks like advanced students are getting the chance to become animagi before graduating Hogwarts... Or they were until these two sixth years starting chasing everyone about the castle in their animal forms. This experimental class is being shelved for the foreseeable future.

    Get Outta Town!

Is a prominent professor stepping down from his post? Rumour has it that someone's moving out of Hogwarts, and it's due to the overwhelming stress of teaching finally catching up with him. So get your last shots in, ladies and gents, before your favourite professor disapparates forever....."

    Got gossip? Tell us here!

    Aries
This will be a very dynamic and demanding month for you in the area of work and career. This could mean a lot of unforseen headaches, especially in partnerships, collaborations and group projects. But, if you work hard and remain diligent, the rewards could be beyond anything you might have expected.

    Taurus
Your optimistic and constructive attitude will serve you well this month when certain areas of your life cause you a great deal of stress. Don't fret, though; even though few seem to realize the effort you put in and the stress you are under initially, in the end it all pays off when somebody higher up praises your work.

    Gemini
Love is celebrated this month for you, but not necessarily in the ways you might imagine. This can affect the areas of career, status, and public visibility as well as romantic endeavors. Professional decisions influenced by your feelings and sentimentalism can aid your growth this month.

    Cancer
Changes may be coming this month that have been in the air for some time. However, don't be too caught off guard by completely unexpected changes as well. This, as might be expected, can cause you a great deal of stress. But, try not to let that stress lead to overindulgence in food or drink. Financial decisions should be carefully considered throughout the month. Don't just jump in head first!

    Leo
This is set to be a tumultuous month, but you will find opportunity in the tumult. Now is the time to highlight your talents as a leader and coordinator and your spirit of initiative. You are able to mediate difficult situations and can win without competing, and also you can benefit from the participation of others.

    Virgo
This month sees a marked improvement in your mood for socialization, communication, and tolerance. This state of mind will facilitate relationships, including those of a sentimental nature. Affection and harmony prevail for you this month, so enjoy it! Singles may find the right person while those in relationships already will enjoy plenty of charm.

    Libra
Emotionally, this month will be much more intense than usual as the balance between self and other is upset. It is important to keep this in mind and try not to become impulsive, but rather thoroughly weigh the possible consequences of your acts and attitudes throughout the month.

    Scorpio
This will be a very active time for you, with many responsibilities, but also satisfactions as well. Inhibitions are gone, and prudence is canceled. Embrace it, but don't go too crazy! If you are lonely, this may well be the time that love finally makes an appearance. Those already romantically involved should embrace the sensual side of things.

    Sagittarius
You will have ingenius ideas this month and be tempted to experiment with bold initiatives, or even radical adventures. This could spell trouble for your image in matters of collaboration, so weigh benefits and risks before voicing those ideas.

    Capricorn
You have a desire to stand out, a need to impose your will, and a bit of a struggle for power. This could lead to confrontations with bosses and authority figures so try to reach your goals by acting strategically, rather than impulsively. You want results, not warfare, right?

    Aquarius
Now is the time of glorious satisfactions for you. The previous period of effort and perseverance will pay off enormously in successes and accomplishments. However, there are still some areas that could be trouble and require more vigilance: studies, intellectual work, trips and long distance collaborations to name a few.

    Pisces
Earnings this month will be higher than usual, and it is possible you may receive valuable gifts or that you will benefit from other material advantages. However, keep your finances in order and don't waste or risk, because your money axis will be tense and this could lead to some not-so-pleasant surprises.

Hello again my furry, scaled, finned, feathered and insect friends!

We've been quite busy since last we spoke so let's just dive right in and get to the good stuff! First up, we have our results from the March monthly activity,  Animagus LIMS! Please join me in congratulating our last icon makers standing! In third place, earning 30 points and 10 knuts each, we had a tie between Kristine/flipflop_diva of Hufflepuff and Christa/dontjudgeme of Ravenclaw! In second place, earning 40 points and 15 knuts, please congratulate Andie/tralfamadore of Ravenclaw! Finally, in first place, put your paws, fins, flippers and wings together for Whomp/whomp of Slytherin who earned a whopping 50 points and 20 knuts! House point breakdowns are as follows: in fourth place, with 35 points, is Gryffindor; in third place, with 124 points, is Hufflepuff; in second place, with 134 points, is Slytherin, and the house earning top points for March is Ravenclaw with 147!

Next up, let's put our paws, fins, flippers and wings together for our March Animagus of the Month, whomp of Slytherin! Feel free to join in the congratulations on the announcement post. This means that Whomp has earned an additional 50 points for Slytherin house!

Next up, our April activity has been posted! This month, we're making a mood board based on our animagus form, or the animal of your choice if you do not yet have a form. The catch? It cannot include any actual images of your form or chosen animal. More details can be found on the activity post.

Finally, if you've been thinking of applying for your very own animagus form, why not trot on over to the application post and fill it out? All you need to do is own the Standard Book of Spells Grades 1-5 and fill in the application. Pretty simple right? Also, if you are a current animagus but no longer feel connected to your current form, you can apply for a new one. Details as to how to do that can be found on the  final essay post you used when you chose your current form.

That's all for now everyone. I will be back next issue with even more awesomeness!

    By flipflop_diva

Hello, HiH! Has everyone recovered from their Hogsmeade jetlag yet? After all, we did fly all the way around the whole entire world in just the course of a weekend. And managed to do a whole ton of sightseeing along the way. That’s pretty darn impressive!

But let’s start from the beginning and take a look at our adventurous weekend!

Our trip started off in Europe, where we made each other sigtags, helped bring order to a magical travel agency, played a little Greek mythology guess who and raced around hogsmeadewkends on a scavenger hunt of our own.

From there we moved on to Africa, where it was time to solve some plant mazes, have an hour of adventure, trade some goods (or, you know, exchange fics and art) and calculate timezones.

In Asia, we pulled out the cameras and packed our bags (highly recommended for actual travel: pack before you leave!). While doing that, we had some strange encounters with the Jiangshi, which we solved by singing a little karaoke.

Over in Oceania, we sent some of our favorite characters on a little family vacation, started filling up our passports, solved the problem of too many souvenirs to pack by playing Tetris and learned about Muggle magic around the world.

What time was it when we arrived in South America you ask? Time for the Glodetrotter Gala! Yay! That was full of all kinds of fun, as well as food, music and planning your next vacation. Of course, being a globetrotter and all, we had to send out some postcards and write some poetry, because who doesn’t write poetry when traveling around the world?

A strange thing happened in North America. We found a whole bunch of animagi waiting for us to glue back together the picture they all took. We also learned about other magical schools around the world and saw a ton of famous landmarks.

Finally, finally we made it all the way back to Europe, very tired but very impressed with all we did. So to finish it off, we showed each other pictures of the landmarks we graffiti’d (just don’t report us!) and tested all our newfound knowledge of the world. Then we had a welcome home party, because after all that work, we earned ourselves another celebration!

But wait! There was more! Even with all of that (phew! I’m tired just remembering it all!), there was still tons of other things to do. Our three fabulous social directors, Ashley/emptyhanded09 of Slytherin, Colleen/schizophrenic0 of Ravenclaw and Liz/erzsebet of Gryffindor (pulling double-duty as mayor AND social director!) made sure that everyone was thoroughly entertained during all the downtimes. Some of the highlights were Where Am I?, where members had to figure out what country they were by playing a version of 20 Questions; Carry On Stamping, where you could be stamped as a travel item such as a travel pillow or an electric plug adaptor; travel scattegories; Lost In Translation, which involved some hilarious mis-quotes; passport bingo and a Snaps Cup Stein.

In addition (yes, there was still more), members could also order sigtag souvenirs to take home with them. If you did order any lovely sigtags from our talented shopkeepers, make sure to stop by the delivery post to pick them up. Or even if you didn’t order any for yourself, you might have gotten some presents from others. So go check them all out anyway!

Finally, keep an eye on the comm as results continue to pour in. We’ll go over those more in detail next issue, since this is really wordy already, but for now, go check them out and give yourself a huge pat on the back.

    Well done, everyone, well done!

    Hello fellow Puffs!

To begin this edition of Puffs in Passing, let's give a big welcome to Crystal/bluemermaid who will be Dani/pinkphoenix1985's co-prefect for the rest of the term. Thanks Crystal for stepping up! Also a big THANK YOU to Sam/samantha for all her hard work getting us to where we are this term.

Other things going on at The Puff House include April's In House Activity: April Fools. You have until the end of the month to do this activity, and all these points go to Hufflepuff so let's get some great participation. March's Activity earned us 250 points and we can totally beat that this month!

We had a returning Puff with Brook/furrrret. Be sure and check out her Welcome Back Post and say hi! Also, we have an amazing 5-year anniversary for Fairy/scarletladyy. You can go to this week's Round Up Post and wish her a Happy Anniversary. (And while you're there, check out all the things due the next two weeks).

She also placed 1st at sortedchallenge's Color Bar activity! Kristine does great stuff for the Puff House!

Over at Sugarquill, Noelia/sickle_girl drew an amazing portrait of our own Helga Hufflepuff . You should also check out the one she did of Harry Potter . Beautiful work Noelia!

There have been 16 activity results posted at hogsmeadewkends, and of those, Hufflepuff House placed 1st in 14 of them!

Finally some serious official business. It's that time again where the Head Mods look to us for the Term XXIX Officials. Applications are all located here, along with descriptions of each position. Deadline is April 23 at 9am UTC, so give it a thought and look over the positions. The only real requirement is that you be a member of HiH for at least two months by the start of May. hogwartsishome needs you, and The Puff House is counting on you to spread the Puff awesomeness all over HiH!

I leave you with a Hufflepuff House quote I found on Tumblr.
