"Dear Dumbledore,
I finally figured out this internet and I understand why the muggles are so obsessed with it. My problem now is I can't decide if I should watch all the cute puppy or kitten things first. What would you pick?
Cute animal video fan"
Dear Cute Animal Video Fan,
I would look for videos with a puppy and kittens at the same time.
Yours,
Albus
"Dear Dumbledore,
What's it like to have a pet phoenix? Do you think I could get one?
Sincerely,
A bird lover"
Dear Bird Lover,
I came across Fawkes through a friend, and I'm fairly certain Magical Menagerie doesn't sell them. I will tell you he's very useful for paper cuts, though.
Yours,
Albus
"Dear Dumbledore,
Did you ever play Quidditch? What position was your favorite?
Curious"
Dear Curious,
I preferred watching to playing myself, and I thought Seekers were most enjoyable to watch - once they found the snitch and did more than hover above the game, anyway.
Yours,
Albus
Write to Dumbles

Hello all, and welcome to a new issue of the Prophet!
We have a lot of administrative stuff going on right now, here at the start of the month. Before we do anything, the mod (i.e., yours truly) would like to remind all SQ community members that all sigtags should be under 100px in height, and to please change any oversize tags promptly. Thanks ♥
There are, of course, things going on besides modly scolding. Results for Artist's Block are up; congrats to Alice/superficiality, Brina/brinchen86, and Caitie/caitieness for coming in first, second, and third respectively. Well done, and thank you to everyone who gave us such beautiful art!
Second, we have February points and March prompts up! March prompts are available at this post. February points, including a roundup of all fiction and art posted during February, are available right here!
Author signups for the Reverse Mini Bang will go up on Monday. Watch out for the post! If you need more information, the Reverse Mini Bang master post is a good place to start.
Other than our little flurry of modly activity, Sugarquill has been very quiet in the past few weeks; however, that doesn't mean that there isn't some great stuff to read! Caitie has some cuteness for us in the form of two ficlets: Winter's Walk, featuring some lovely Harry/Ginny fluff, and Making Ron Disappear, which is full of twinkly antics.
If, on the other hand, you're in the mood for something distinctly less fuzzy and distinctly more on the dark side, Kristine/flipflop_diva has Dealing with the Pain for you.
Looking for friendship instead? Brina/brinchen86 has got you covered. Check out Secret Revealed, which features Hermione, Remus, time travel, and a certain furry little secret.
Finally, I thought we'd end with a few blasts from the past. The first is a fic from 2008, Two Boys by Bunny/ladyxmoonlight. Check this one out if you want some Remus/Sirius told from the POV of someone that many of us never even think of as a character. The second is a 2012 fic from Evy/slumber, set during the Carrows' reign at Hogwarts; we are not shining stars is guaranteed to give you some hardcore Hufflepuff feels.

Welcome, welcome! Let's see what's been happening in the world of graphics and art, shall we? Slytherin swept up the points in Challenge 6 at sortedchallenge with a grand 148 points. Slytherin's Beth/djmayhem_aubrey took 1st place and was followed by her housemates Rachel/moony_blues and Tiffany/fangss, who took 2nd and 3rd place. Claire/nfgs of Hufflepuff received the award for "best crop". Stop by here to see all of the winning graphics. Take a look at Beth's lovely Severus-centric graphic.
Challenge 8 saw a boost in participation from most of the houses. Let's keep that up! All four houses also placed! Andie/tralfamadore of Ravenclaw placed 1st, while Tiffany/fangss of Slytherin placed 2nd. We had a three-way tie for 3rd place with Caitie/caitieness of Hufflepuff, Rene/isaac_of_nine of Gryffindor and Beth/djmayhem_aubrey of Slytherin vying for the spot. Both Carola/carola_d of Gryffindor and Erin/anirishlullaby of Ravenclaw received the award for "best use of texture".
Over at hogwartsicons, things have been rather quiet. Ravenclaw's Erin/anirishlullaby shared a variety of graphics in her post right here. She racked up 125 points for Ravenclaw with some great icons, a banner and a fanmix.
For you lovers of Harry/Hermione, take a look at this fanmix. I'm a fan of the image used for the cover.
Caitie/caitieness of Hufflepuff shared a small but pretty assortments of icons featuring some of our favourite Gryffindors.
Stop by Caitie's post to leave some comments.
One of our Gryffindor artists produced a lovely piece of work that has me squeeing with joy. Rene/isaac_of_nine took on hh_sugarquill's Challenge #124 of redrawing a screenshot and come up with this beauty.
Stop by and leave the lovely Rene some love right over here.
I'm off for this edition of the Daily Prophet, but keep on sharing your wonderful pieces of art and you might find yourself in the spotlight next time!

It's the beginning of the month, which means lots of results from last month, plus lots of new activities.
But first, did you see there's currently THREE open club leader spots? Unfortunately, no one applied to lead Ancient Runes, so it's been put on hiatus, but there are openings for Healers' Association of Hogwarts, Owl Post Secret, and Potions Club. All apps are due March 11 at 11:59pm UTC.
January's club leader and member of the month were announced late in February. Congrats to Kristine/flipflop_diva of Hufflepuff and Ren/renrenren3 of Ravenclaw for being members of the month, and Liz/erzsebet of Gryffindor for earning leader of the month!
Now let's check out what activities are going on!
If you've ever thought the music note shapes were boring, Music Club's Music Anew is for you. Design a new personal music note by 10:59pm UTC March 15.
Like telling people what to do? Then come participate in DADA's Imperio Says.... Post prompts telling people what to do and, after that, fulfill some prompts from others. The deadline is 11pm March 15.
Art Club's Color by Numbers will probably take you back to your childhood. All you need to do is find a color by numbers picture and do it before 11:59pm UTC March 15!
Slug Club is playing Guess Who with various fandom characters. What characters will be used is up to you so submit your ideas before March 17, 10pm UTC.
Ever wish there was a star out there just for you? Now you can create your own and submit it to Astronomy Club's Create a Star. Make sure you do so before March 19, 5am UTC.
Over in Charms Club you can practice your accio skills in the activity Accio Away. Just pick the 3 objects you want to accio and see how many points you earn. Submit by 1pm March 19.
There's a House Unity Pic-a-thon happening over in Sorters Anon. The goal is to find pictures of various objects in the house colors relating to the given themes. Think you can do it? Check it out before March 21, 11:59pm UTC.
The Young Death Eaters are going on an adventure. Will you follow Bellatrix or Lucius? Comment in either thread here to receive your secret assignment, and then turn it in for points by March 28, 8am UTC.
This is just a selection of all activities currently going on at hh_clubs. For the complete list, check the current tag or the latest weekly roundup.
You can check out the latest results under the results tag, but let's take a look at a few of them.
Music Club's From Me to You had participants make fanmixes from one character to another. Ren/renrenren3's mix was particularly amusing. A gift to Thranduil, Elf King of Mirkwood from Thranduil, Elf King of Mirkwood, featuring party music. You can see the cover below.
Apparently Meredith/meredith44 is actually a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, as she got the most Oscar predictions correct at Muggle Cultural Society's Oscar Pool Party, with a total of 19 correct predictions. Way to go!
Andie/tralfamadore came in 1st place with the lovely entry below for Ministry of Magic's Time to Save Face. Hopefully this poster is good PR for the Ministry?
Only two people participated in designing new cheat sheets for Platform via Sorters Anon. Both of their entries are really shiny. You should check them out here.
That's all for this week, club-goers! Go have some fun :D
Beware of the Plant!
The word on the street is that a certain someone, maybe a certain Gryffindor has been growing his own giant plant. A plant big enough to take on the Whomping Willow. I wonder where you'd keep such a plant.
Where has all the candy gone?
Rumor has it that officials are strongly considering making Hogwarts a sugar-free zone for the next school year. Why this change? Is there a sudden interest in promoting healthy eating? Actually, we hear it has to do with the fact that a certain headmaster has so much candy "'hidden' in his office, it is bulging out of the walls and making its way into the portraits, and now all the portraits are on a permanent sugar high."
Mechanical Mischief
No doubt trying to one-up Potter and Weasley, a sixth-year Gryffindor decided to try to ride a Muggle lawn mower (some loud mechanical contraption that cuts grass on Muggle lawns) into Hogwarts. The joke was on him, though, as someone enchanted the machine to buck the sixth-year off onto the front lawns. Perhaps it was a certain fed-up Transfiguration teacher?
Professor Partying
You haven't heard it from me but it seems that our beloved professor are going to let their hair down, and have a little "get together" in the Room of Requirement. Seems like the best time to have out own little soiree.
Got gossip? Tell us here!

Aries
Longing to break out the shorts and sandals already? Be patient. Spring is on the way, even if old man winter didn't get the memo as yet. If you truly cannot wait, why not throw an early springtime indoor beach party? Break out the board shorts and shades, fill kiddie pools with a little water and watch beach movies like Gidget and Surf's Up!
Taurus
Patience has been your watchword since before you were old enough to remember. You enjoy watching the slow creep of time and the change of seasons. You delight in the melting of snow and ice, even in the mud and muck that results. In fact, you secretly like the mud as it grounds you and makes you feel like a kid again when you squish it in your hands and between your toes.
Gemini
Time to wake up and get active again after a long winter of cabin fever. Get out and employ your natural curiosity to go exploring in the outdoors. See the wildlife tracks in the melting snow and mud. Watch the flowers push up to the sun and burst forth in colorful bloom. It is a time of renewal, of new beginnings. Seize the day!
Cancer
The weather this time of year matches the changes of mood you are known for. Sunny, stormy, windy and - in some cases - wondering just what season it is! Use this time of renewal and natural tumult to reflect on what it is you might want to work on before summer. What new habits might benefit you? Likewise, what old habits might need to be gotten rid of?
Leo
This is the month that, like you, comes roaring in, begging to be the center of attention. However, you would do well to take a lesson from how it leaves: quiet as a little lamb. What areas of your life could benefit from you taking a step back? Perhaps a little mental cleaning is in order along with normal spring cleaning.
Virgo
Once again, being a stick in the mud in this season of change and renewal will get you nowhere but dirty. Do a bit of spring cleaning, getting rid of the old to make way for the new. Perhaps now is a good time to get started on that project you've been procrastinating about. Maybe a change in furniture placement will make the energy flow a bit better in your life.
Libra
Balance and harmony are possible even amid the turmoil of too much to do. Take time for yourself to take stock of what's really important. If something is holding you back, perhaps now is the best time to cut the strings and set yourself free. Take a walk and enjoy the sun on your face, the natural world awakening from a long slumber.
Scorpio
This may come as a shock, but you aren't always right. Take a step back from a difficult situation and evaluate it with an objective eye. Make sure to ignore your ego and listen instead to your heart. That little voice in the back of your head telling you to try something new should never be ignored.
Sagittarius
Longing for the sun on your face drives you outdoors as much as possible during nicer weather. Enjoy the fresh air, as it's going to start raining soon and nice days will be few and far between. Declutter your life, whether it be material things or something intangible, such as stress. Take a deep breath and relax!
Aquarius
Spring is in the air, and you can't wait for it to hurry up and get here already! The cold months aren't your favorite, and to be honest, you're going a little stir crazy. After all, how many times can you rearrange your bookshelves before it becomes a bore? Put those energies toward getting rid of physical and emotional clutter.
Pisces
Ah, spring, the time of year where the weather can't seem to make up its mind and neither can you. What new project to tackle first, which room should you get busy with uncluttering and reorganizing? Take a deep breath and sit down to make a plan. Things will seem much less overwhelming this way.

Welcome to this edition for Flourish and Blotts.
The monthly results for February were posted! Hufflepuff earned the most points this month, with Slytherin second, Gryffindor third and Ravenclaw fourth. Let's give a shout out to our top earners for the month: Steph/alwaysawkward, Samantha/samantha, Ren/renrenren3 and Tiffany/fangss! Also in February, we had TWO Shop Owners of the Month. These shops had the highest percentage of deliveries to members of all other houses apart from their own. Steph/alwaysawkward of Gryffindor and Ren/renrenren3 of Ravenclaw did double duty winning this award and top earner for their houses. Way to go! Rounding out February news was the announcement of the new theme, which is New 2013/2014 TV Shows; to qualify for this theme, the show should have premiered in the 2013/2014 television season.
We had two new shops posted! First, we have Selcouth; a Gryffindor Shop by Renee/isaac_of_nine. This shop has some amazing stock and animal tags, so be sure and check those out.
Also we had three a.m. - a slytherin shop by Olivia/deshi_basara. Check out the original Hogwarts subjects tag and some great Pacific Rim tags.
We also saw some great cataloge updates. With Pride; Hufflepuff Shop by Erin/_eyesofpride_ had an update that includes animal tags, '70s and '80s, Disney and more. Check out these fun tags:
Lost in the Woods; A Gryffindor Shop by Martine/la_loony had Update #35. There are some nice stock tags added like these:
In deliveries, we saw some very pretty tags from Stitched; A Ravenclaw Shop Delivery 20. Susan/susako has some great Star Trek and Calvin and Hobbes you should check out:
We also saw a delivery from Krystal/autumn_mist's shop Accio Malfoy; A Slytherin Shop, with this delivery. There are some great winter and stock tags in her shop.
There are still tons of open shop spots! If you have ever thought you might want to give it a try, now is the time. All you have to do is go HERE and apply! We have spots for 2 Lion, 2 Badgers, 6 Eagles and 3 Snakes right now.
One final thing that was posted was a social post for resource sharing. There are six threads - Fonts, Textures, Tutorials, Screencap Galleries, Stock Photos and Vector Images - so check them out for ideas or to leave ideas for your fellow makers.
That's all for now. Head over to Flourish & Blotts and get some shopping done.

Greetings again, my furry, feathered, scaled, and insect friends! After a short hiatus, I am back and ready to go!
You still have time to join up with a habitat pack, the ongoing community-wide activity that combines badges and evolution in one really fun package! If you want to check it out, trot, swim, run, crawl, fly or slither on over to the sign up post.
Our March activity is up, and this one is pretty easy! It's an Animagus LIMS contest. At the end of the month, we will tally up who is the best icon maker, and they will get some pretty awesome points and knuts. Keep a lookout for Round 2 to see who is moving on!
Choices have been posted for last month's hopefuls, and if you want to see what they are, you can check them out here. Also, we have nobody in the queue as of right now for a March batch of hopefuls. Remember, applications are always open. All you need to do is have The Standard Book of Spells Grades 1-5 and fill in the application.
Finally, to finish last month's wrap up, the results for February's activity have been posted! Please join me in congratulating Slytherin House on their win with 75 points! Please also join me in congratulating our February Animagus of the Month, Alice/superficiality, also of Slytherin. Well done, Slytherins!
That's all I have for you this month. Remember, stay awesome!
hogsmeadewkends
By flipflop_diva
Hello HiH!
Is everyone getting ready? Hogsmeade is now less than a month away! I hope your calendars are cleared and the cupboards are being stocked with tasty treats. (What? It’s never too early to stock up!)
As a reminder, Hogsmeade is APRIL 4-6 and the theme is Around the World in 80 hours.
Speaking of the theme, we have gotten a little more clarification of what it all means since our last issue. For this Hogsmeade, each time slot is going to focus on a specific area of the world, starting with the south, southeastern and eastern portions of Europe, continuing on to Africa, Asia, Oceania, South America and North America, and ending up with the western, northern and central areas of Europe.
As for what that means in terms of Flourish catalogues or the sigtag sale, well, the mayors have posted a handy theme discussion right here that explains what exactly is and isn’t accepted. (Basically, if it has to do with traveling or with specific areas of the world, you are good to go.)
Now, before we move on to some fun things you can do right this very second, let’s first dive into the latest breaking news out of hogsmeadewkends! At the bottom of that same theme discussion post, there is an exciting announcement. For the first time, Flourish at Hogsmeade will open a full day ahead! That’s right! Flourish at Hogsmeade will open Thursday, April 3, so if you’re worried about having enough time to do everything, you can order allll the tags you want early.
Exciting, right?
This announcement is on top of the new rules for Flourish Hogsmeade that were previously posted - rules that now combine all shopkeepers into one group, allow all shopkeepers to make both regular and gift tags and give everyone seven days to deliver in order to count Flourish toward their participation bonus or banners. The new rules also give signup priority to those who don’t already have shops.
Okay, I said I was going to talk about fun things you can do now. And I am. There are three things.
• Sign up to be a social director! If you’ve never done it, I can promise you it’s a lot of fun. It’s also a really great way to meet people. And if you’re freaking out about ideas, that’s what your mayors are there for.
• Sign up to host an activity! You can even sign up to do this if you aren’t a mod or club leader.
• Submit banners for the banner contest. Don’t you want to see your banner up in lights? Or at least being used by winners?
Activity and social director signups end March 25 at 8p UTC. Hogsmeade banner submissions end at 11:59p UTC March 23.
So get on it! And once you’re finished, go double-check those cupboards. Seriously. You don’t want to be take a store break during Hogsmeade, do you??
If you would like to write an article for a future issue of the Daily Prophet, please comment at the signup sheet.

Hello Gryffindors!
Before we start, I'd like to announce that I have stepped down as Gryffindor columnist, so there's an open position if anybody wants to step up to write for Gryffindor every edition!
Now, we've had a new cub since our last edition! Give a warm welcome to Arianna/what_falls_down. It's great to have you in Gryffindor!
If you're interested in earning some points, don't forget that Jess/rhye is keeping the Spreadsheep updated! All members can use it and mark off what they've done or look to see what they have to do. Another way to see what you have to do is to check March's Activity Round-Up #1, thanks to Martine/la_loony.
Speaking of points for Gryffindor, a new in-house has been posted! All you have to do for 10 points/5 knuts is to Design a coin for Gryffindor using one of the templates or your own. It ends on March 31 at 11:59pm UTC so get your submission in before then!
The prefects have posted a Mid-Term Feedback Post to ask what you want to see in the Gryffindor common room. If you have suggestions, you can leave them there!
There's been a ton of Gryffindors around participating and earning points. Keep it up! And don't forget that the common room is always open for anybody to post in! Got a clear image of Godric on your toast? We want to see that! No, really.
Until next time!
