owls to Violet, Christine, Robin, Brenda, Marius, Dawn, Oliver, Adam, and the Hat
When she had been in college, Camilla and her twin brother had shared a flat, and they had always held dinner there on Sunday nights for their small group of friends. The Sorting Hat had reminded her about this, and suggested she take up that tradition again, here at Hogwarts. Actually, she thought the Hat considered this part of her 'bribe' for admittance. She might otherwise have been reluctant to issue invitations for such an intimate gathering to people she hardly knew as yet.
It would hardly do to invite only the Sorting Hat, so Camilla sent invitations to the people she had met at her Sorting -- those who had not squibbed her or made her uncomfortable -- and to the nice people she had met in the Gryffindor common room and elsewhere. She ended up with a longer list of potential guests than she might have desired -- she had never thrown large parties. Still, they might not all show up; and if they did, why, then, the Hat should be even more pleased.
So owls went out to the following people:
Violet Baudelaire
Christine Daae
Robin Goodfellow
Brenda Johnson
Marius Pontmercy
Dawn Summers
Oliver Wood
Adam Young
and, of course, the Sorting Hat.
Each one was handwritten in maroon ink, with the addressee's name at the top as well as on the outside of the folded and sealed letter; no Dictaquills for Camilla, who was in some ways an old-fashioned girl. After the salutations, each invitation went on to say:
I'm having a little informal dinner gathering on Sunday night in room 202 (you know, the little empty room near the statue of Paracelsus?), and I'd like it very much if you could attend. We'll be having lamb. If you don't eat meat, could you let me know, and I'll arrange for something else?
RSVP via owl. I understand the owls should be able to find me.
