You Turn Me On I'm A Radio lyrics

CW: Hello Hogwarts and welcome to Radio WART with Carrie White and Spider Jerusalem! As long's I can make Spider stick around an' help me out with this, that is. Spider, what have you got against the radio? I'd think this'd be right up your alley.

SJ: I have nothing against the radio. It's a tool. What I have a problem with is the idiots on it. (surly)

CW: Well then surely we can improve the tone a little. That was Joni Mitchell with "You Turn Me On I'm A Radio," a song from 1972. What music's popular in your time, Spider? Whenever your time is, that is.

SJ: Nothing I can find here. The hot new thing that has insinuated itself into the memory centers of the populace is CFC, a band who pretend that they pioneered 'miserabalism'. Actually, hunting through the archives here, I find that CFC is just a mutated species of 'emo rock'-- and that REAL miserabalism comes from a genre called the blues. And here's a fine example, so you idiots better appreciate it. Here's "Ruby, don't take your love to town."

Ruby lyrics

CW: Oh, I know that one. That's country and western, of the "my woman done left me and my dog died and my pickup truck got stolen and I don't even have a beer to cry in" type. I've got a miserablism right here, as a matter of fact, an' it's a dedication. I'm sending it out to my friend Ophelia, who's popcorn now. It's by The Band, an' it's called "Ophelia," which works out well, don'cha think?

Ophelia lyrics

CW: But I'd never've picked you for the type for mopey music, Spider.

SJ: *scoff* It's traditional. I can appreciate music that I don't like personally. Admittedly, my tastes run just a LITTLE louder and angrier, but that's not for everyone. It's for you all, though. This is Firestarter, and you can listen to the loud, or you can turn your radio off for five minutes.

Firestarter lyrics

CW: Well. After that I think I need somethin' a li'l sunnier to brighten up the place. How 'bout the Beatles?

Here Comes the Sun lyrics

SJ: Yes, let's all pretend it's sunny. It's not sunny, it's never going to be particularly sunny. I prefer to accept reality as it is. The warnings have always been here. Even in mellow and over-orchestrated tripe. Speaking of which! The Dave Matthews Band, "wake up."

Everybody Wake Up lyrics

CW: Awww. Somebody's a little angry, aren't we? Well, maybe this'll brighten up your day. I've got a dedication for you, Spider. "If Not For You," by Bob Dylan. 'Cause I don't know what I'd do without you.

If Not For You lyrics

SJ: Listen to the goddamn music while your hosts talk, kiddies. Project Pitchfork, Conjure, etc.

Conjure lyrics

CW: Okay, we're back. An' I've got one more dedication, which the right person ain't gonna hear an' Spider prob'ly won't like, but I'm makin' it anyway, just 'cause I can. It's for my Mama, who's not here.

My Own Peculiar Way lyrics

CW: *sings* 'Although I may not always be the way you'd have me be, an' though my faults may grow in number day by day, let no one ever say I've ever been untrue, I'll always love you in my own peculiar way....'

SJ: *audible sound of fingers drumming irritatedly*

CW: See? Tol'ja he wouldn't like it. *giggles*

SJ: And if we can dispense with sticky and unnecessary emotions, an interesting song, apparently written by a gentleman who thought that the culture of the United States would invade his country. I'm sure he would be pleased to know that the the reverse ended up happening, except that he'd no longer to have anything to whine about.

Some of you live there-- this is Amerika, by Rammstein.

Amerika lyrics

CW: An' on that oh-so-cheerful note *sound of Carrie thwapping Spider upside the head* maybe we better open the Floo lines, why don't we?

SJ: OW. Yes, indeed.
