Closed RP: Mel and Brice and Some *Serious* Flirting.

Sep 19, 2006 23:06

((Mel-mun cleared my slight godmodding here.))

Newly Sorted into Gryffindor, Brice was walking aimlessly through the corridors, his hands shoved deep into his jeans pockets. He was trying to make a mental map of the place, but had to give up after five minutes. Hogwarts was huge. A part of him hoped to find Mel, to make things less confusing ( Read more... )

Mel's head jerks up, as she was actually beginning to understand a sentence in the Handbook. (Chapter three, actually.)

'Brice! Don't scare me like that!' she scolds, and then notices he's not in the Sorting room. 'Congrats! They let you in.'

"They did," he nodded, sitting down beside her. "I'm in Gryffindor now." He smirked at her and nodded at the Handbook. "Trying to catch up on your studies there, sweetheart?"

'Hey, I don't even have to study this,' she defends herself. 'I'm being a good girl, yeah?'

"Being a good girl is pretty much an angel requirement, I should think," he said, leaning back a bit. "So. How've you been, then?"

'Eh. You know. Secrets-boarding, mainly,' she says, putting down the book by her side and giving him a glance. 'You?'

"Oh yes, the seeecrets," he said, tasting the word. "I passed that board at some point. I think I spotted your name here and there." He smirked again, remembering one in particular. "Very interesting way of getting things off your chest..."

She coughs, hoping to God he didn't see her telling that anonymous she likes him.

'Just me,' she says lightly, 'Or for everyone?'

"Oh, people in general, you in particular, darling... I seem to recall one secret. To my knowledge, it didn't exactly concern you, but you sure scribbled your name all around it anyway." He looked a bit gleeful, to be honest. "Something about green eyes..."

Crap, why does he have to be smarter than all the other boys she knows?

'What, that anonymous guy hitting on me?' she gabbles fast, blushing.

Because he's Brice.

"Ah yes, that would be the one." There was an amused glint in his eyes. "Correct me if I'm wrong here, but there was one particular comment there that I think you and I ought to discuss."

Quick, Mel, look for a way out!

Why are there no tunnels around?

Maybe she can point at something behind him and then flee.

'What's that?' she asks, hiding her face so he doesn't see her tomato look.

He still noticed it, but did not comment. She was embarrassed enough already, and Brice didn't want her to run off.

"Mmm, you turned that anonymous bloke down because you said you fancied someone else already. And those strike-outs are quite easy to read you know. It doesn't take a genius to figure out who you're talking about." He crossed his arms over his chest and looked at her with interest. "Anything you'd like to tell me, sweetheart?"

Damn it, she should have scribbled more thoroughly over those.

'Erm.'

Come on, angel girl, scolds Helix.

'Erm. Well. I fancy you but you're obviously--Lola and that--so I thought I couldn't tell you but it looks like you found out anyway.'

Huh. Interesting turn of events... He'd had some time to get used to the idea of Mel fancying him and wasn't exactly recoiling in horror at the thought either, but it was somewhat of a shock to hear her actually say it.

"Yeah, I'm good at finding things out," he said absently. "And I believe I told you that Lola and I aren't together anymore?" He gave her a look.

It was a shock to her, too.

Shoving herself against the wall, 'Yeah, but I can't fancy my best mate's ex-boyfriend!...can I?'

"There is probably some sort of BFF Code of Conduct here," he agreed. "Ah, there should be, um, a certain amount of time between the break-up and the... suggestion of a new relationship..." He scratched his head, some of his smugness turning into obvious confusion. "If it makes you feel any better, Lola was the one who actually brought up the question of ending it."

He grinned a bit. "'S not a matter of can or can't, darling, it's about will or won't."
