Dear Susan,

I've been to the popcorn room second floor recently, and I did see Logan's name there a couple of days ago. It was a huge shock, as I'd only just talked to Logan at a Sorting a day or two earlier; we'd made tentative plans to get together soon. I kept thinking it must be a mistake, that he'd be back any minute, but that hope is wearing thin with each passing day.

Thank you for the offer of company, I know he was very dear to you as well and for a longer time, and I'll very likely take you up on it soon. (I keep finding myself making mental notes of funny things that crop up at Sortings that I must remember to tell him when I see him.) I know he helped me a great deal, not only in adjusting to Hogwarts but in not feeling so alone with my life's traumas; I only hope I was able to be as much use to him as well, especially when Lilly reappeared in his life. I have to believe he can't stay popcorn forever

Can't say I much miss our Mr. Gin, but I can confirm he hasn't been seen around the dorms at all for almost a month. He has been replaced with a new sketchy character, though: Lord Voldemort has unpopcorned. I've been visiting the second floor to make sure his minions are still there - there are at least two who've done real harm to a friend of mine in the past. Said friend warns me to steer clear and points out that he's the Potters' fight, but given his philosophies I can't help but feel he's a threat to all of us 'nontraditional' wizarding students. So I'm being watchful.

Thank you for thinking of me. I know seeing Logan's name was just as great a shock for you. Have you ever been through this with a friend before?

Yours,
Laura

Dear Miss P Laura,

Funny you should ask -- about being through this before, that is. Just a scant few days before I found out about Logan, I learned that Stephen's wife, River, had suffered the same fate, and it seems that my friend Psyche did as well -- around the same time as Logan, as far as I can tell. It's all been rather a lot to deal with in one go, and I suppose I'm still slightly in shock about it all. We can only hope that the condition won't last and that when or if he returns, he's at least something like he was before.

I have heard about this Lord Voldemort character; actually, when I first arrived here, there were three of him, apparently from different periods of his life or some such -- don't ask me to explain, I can't. At least there's only one of him now; I should appreciate any interesting information you might uncover about him.

In any case, thank you for your kind words, and I should certainly like to talk with you more. I'm easily found, so if you like, contact me at your convenience.

Sincerely,
Susan

(( *waves* I figured it was un-Susan-like to be Indiscreet, so thought I'd pop in and remind that when River told Susan about the marriage status, she did mention that it was A Secret. Only saying so because Stephen is already way paranoid about how much the school knows about his personal life, and if Laura turns up knowing that he and River were married, he may decide she too is a French spy along with Scully ;)

And darn it all, when he gets back from his vacation and finally back to his precious laudanum bottle again, I do need to have him get together with Susan at some point! He's worried about her, of course.))

((d'oh. I forgot -- too much stuff on the brain of late. Laura, read "fiancee" for "wife".))

(( It's an easily forgettable thing -- I wasn't even sure whether Susan had been told, and had to go back in LJ memories to check! Figured that ICly Susan and Stephen would remember even if we muns didn't, though. ;) Poor Stephen. He didn't know that he had to have a secret marriage because his mun and his wife's mun were waiting until they had time to plan the RP wedding of the century, and never got around to it. ))

((Susan has a much better head on her shoulders than I do -- as she frequently and emphatically reminds me -- so she would definitely remember. Alas for the un-RPed wedding of the century ... ah well.))
