If at any time you would like to slow down, ma cherie, you would only have to ask. I'm afraid love has made a fool of this old man and he can only see you. *is looking into her eyes, smiling, still holding her hand against his lips*
I shall remember to keep it long and well-groomed for you, then. *smiles very, very smitten right now, doesn't even notice that the waiter has returned, served them, and left*
*wasn't quite expecting that; sips his wine and thinks for a moment*
Things are quite odd around these parts, yes. Hogwarts has changed, and I believe for the better. Here, it doesn't seem as though the Order or Death Eaters exist or, excuse me they do, but there seems to be no trace of war. There's no need for it. No killing is allowed and aside from some few skirmishes, there doesn't seem to be all that much violence, either.
*finishes his glass and pours another*
I have always valued Tom's friendship, as I have Albus'. Why do you think I spent so many years in hiding from both? I neither want to be a Death Eater nor an Order member. It's not my fight. I am not a fighter, Minerva. Could you imagine me on the field anyway? *laughs* No. Both respect my neutrality and I appreciate it by trying to stay on both their good sides
( ... )
Oh, Minerva. *leans forward, takes her hand and holds it comfortingly*
You aren't. You haven't outlived your usefulness, I promise. *kisses the back of her hand* Talk with Albus. I'm sure he could help you understand how absolutely irreplacable you are in anything.
You are a tenacious fighter. *agrees* That's part of your charm, though. Something that I would never want you to change.

You will have your dessert shortly, ma chere.
*takes her hand, kisses it, then whispers against it*
Je t'adore, ma belle fille.

To love and be loved,
to believe and be believed,
is to be alive.
*kisses her hand*
*whispers* Je t'aime beaucoup, mon amour. *smiles*

*gets the check and quickly pays* *leads her outside, his hand never leaving hers, entwines their fingers, feels better this way*
It's not as chilly as the other night.
*leading her away from the restaurants and bustle of the streets toward a nearby park*
