(Checked out with Sokka-mun as per the rules.)
Ty Lee found herself, quite suddenly, in an unfamiliar room of gray stone. Well, this was no good! She'd just gotten out of prison! How was she supposed to be one of the Kyoshi warriors if she was spirited away to... well, to where ever this was? Ty Lee had been hanging around in her own clothes when ( Read more... )

Its straps held high above its point, their tips meeting in a circle in a balletic sort of pose, the Hat twirled into the Sorting Room. After a couple of grand leaps, it positioned itself on Ty's head. It was feeling very flourishy today!

"So tell me, what have you got against flexibility and bending? Are you proposing that everyone in school walk around stiff as a board like...like ZOMBIES???"

Ty Lee giggled. "No, like... elemental bending. Controlling the elements as a martial art. I think that flexibility is great! A lot of people would be happier if they knew how to stretch properly."

The Hat ran a strap across the top of its point in a gesture of obvious relief. "Knowledge of proper stretching techniques would make this school a much better place," it agreed. "We need more ballet, more kung fu, more Jazzercise...and more alcohol, of course! Can you contribute to any of the causes?"

"Kung fu's a martial art? I don't think I'm familiar with it specifically, but I could certainly teach some of what I do know," Ty Lee offered, "although I'm actually a much better acrobat than I am a fighter. So maybe I could teach some tumbling, too?"

"Absolutely! Acrobatics and tumbling are useful skills," it replied quite congenially. Suddenly, though, its tone shifted to a grave hiss. "But I'm warning you that if you attempt to teach any sort of clowning, particularly EVIL CLOWNING, you will be expelled! We will have no evil clownery here at Hogwarts! Is that understood?"

"Hey, I said I was an acrobat," Ty Lee said, sounding a little annoyed. "Of course I won't be teaching clowing! Not all circus folks are clowns, you know."

"One can never be too careful," the Hat responded unabashedly. "Especially not after the havoc that evil clowns have wreaked here at Hogwarts. As the saying goes, constant vigilance, constant vigilance!"

It puffed itself out righteously before continuing, "Well, I think we are on the same page here. I very much look forward to the increased limberness you shall impart on our students!"

It pirouetted off her head -- as much as a Hat lacking visible appendages can pirouette -- to go make the Sorting announcement.
