[OOC] Meme time!

Okay, folks, another meme! It's one I've been pondering for a while, and I'm sure I'm not the only one that has come across this so...

Characters You'd Like to Play But Can't/Find Difficult to Because...Basically, you tell us a character you've considered play but would find difficult to impossible to play because of some sort of limitation- ( Read more... )

Here's my list:

The guy from the Dead Alewives Dungeons and Dragons sketch who is always looking for Mountain Dew. I even created a journal for him, but the sketch is like 3 minutes long, so he only has a few lines and I'd be making up the rest.

Captain Planet: I'd have to watch his whole canon, and I'm not sure I can stand so much preaching, even on issues I agree about.

Abed from Community: Way too meta. I think he'd love H_H, but most of the fun of his character is how frequently he leans on the fourth wall.

Hodor from A Song of Ice and Fire: All he does is go around yelling "Hodor!"

I'm sure there are ones I've forgotten. :)

More recently I have been thinking it would be hysterical to app someone based on this, but I am not nearly that funny, and it seems a little like apping someone's OC. So I have not.

I was jazzed enough about Splice to consider apping Dren (the bald one in that pic). But a, she communicates in chirps and trills for much of the movie, and b, I don't feel I've got a good enough handle on her POV.

I also gave half a thought to doing Elsa, Sarah Polley's character from the same movie. I'm tempted to write some sequelly fanfic about her, because at its core I think the movie is really about her issues. But she'd hew too close to my Claire from Dollhouse really; similar professions, similar issues.

You bringing up a character from a song reminds me of someone else I'd like to play.

I'd like to play someone from the Du Hast video.

Problem is you don't know anything outside what happened in that video, not even names.

Yeah, like Working Well with Others is a requirement at Hogwarts :-P

DO IT! Hogwarts needs more egomaniac alien cyborgs!

Oh, Kickassia. I'd love to play Sarah Palin N!Chick, but it's slightly...I don't know, I'm not convinced re: RPS, either.

I don't know if I could ever play a character from a continuing TV series. I'd be tempted to make up my own canon and then have it retconned.

Firekeeper and Blind Seer from Jane Lindskold's Firekeeper saga. I have a journal, I've played them elsewhere, but if they came to Hogwarts all Firekeeper would want to do would be to become an animagus. Besides, it's a human woman raised as a wolf and a wolf in love. They never have sex, they outright say that they wouldn't because wolves only procreate for breeding and they find the human obsession with sex to be amusing at best, but it's still a little icky.

Sooraya "Dust" Qadir from X-men. Again, I have a journal and even an application written, but the character is a devout Sunni Muslim and even reading up on their belief system, it's so far away from what I'm familiar with that I'd feel like an asshole for screwing it up. It's a huge part of who she is, and it'd feel shitty to me to get it wrong.

Randall Graves from the View Askewniverse. He's entirely too dependent on pop culture references, and I'd have no good way to play him without breaking the fourth wall any number of times.

Ignatius J. Reilly from A Confederacy ( ... )

Well, in Remy's case, you could just assume that the magic at Hogwarts allows him to be understood. That's what more or less ended up happening with Wishbone.

Ooh, Firekeeper! It would be interesting to see what she and Blindseer would make of Hogwarts, but you're right. I'm not really sure how playable they'd be here. And I need to keep reading that series. I remember thinking there was another animal character that would be hella fun to play from that universe, but I can't rememberr who or why!

Elation? Bee Biter? Loveable and/or Bitter? Dark Death?

Yeah, I've had an application written for them for years, and while I really want to see what they'd do at Hogwarts post series' end (ESPECIALLY with some information regarding Blind Seer in the last book), it seems kind of cruel to bring them to a place where transformation magic is possible without blood sacrifices. (I'll admit, I've entertained the idea of having Blind Seer get a hold of that potion we had for the cast of Cats years ago that turned them human--but I think that would actually up the angst rather than decrease it since Firekeeper has the weirdest case of body dysmorphia that I've ever heard of and is pretty much not at all attracted to humans.)

I'll admit, it would take the absolute least amount of persuasion to actually bring them in. I've been considering waiting until the end of the summer, with the rationale that I can pop them if it becomes too dramallama.
