Application for Rory Williams (Doctor Who)

((ooc: Approved by fellow Who muns.))

Rory had thought he was getting used to things like this. All right, maybe not 'used to'. More used to. Less likely to stand around boggling in the face of alien weirdness. But, that was what he was doing - staring, wide-eyed, at what had been the TARDIS a few seconds ago and now ( Read more... )

"Oh, you've met vampires too? Are they the sparkly ones like me or the dark broody ones like Vishous?"

"They were actually, um, fish," Rory explained, with a vaguely apologetic gesture - yeah, I know how it sounds, trust me. "Well, aliens. Alien fish-people. With perception filters."

...and then he realised what George had said, and got behind the table, quickly. "Wait, you - you're a..."

Did he have any weapons? Well, there was the table. He could try to break a leg off it, maybe. Before getting his throat ripped out.

"Well, that's strange. I certainly never heard of fish vampires," George said, mulling it over. "That's very strange. Oh well. I'm George!" he said, holding out a hand. "Careful, my hand's cold."

There was a pencil in his pocket. Rory grabbed the quill and held the two implements in front of him, in the shape of a cross. Okay, that hadn't worked last time, but that hadn't been a real vampire, had it? If he could get to one of those windows, maybe the sun would turn it to dust.

"I say, what are you doing?" Then it dawned on the soldier. "Oh, you've been reading Stoker! Poor man got it all wrong. Crosses don't do anything to me. Come on, I'm not that bad. I drink animal blood!"

"...right. Of course." That should have worked this time. At least no one else had seen, he hoped. He lowered the pencil again. The quill actually squirmed out of his hand, dropping back to the table in what he was somehow convinced was a sulk.

"Animal blood. No human." He didn't let go of the pencil. The vampire sounded fairly harmless but so had that one who went on about his mummy, and that had nearly gone very badly.

"Right! I mean, I could, but the person that accidentally turned me is from a family that drinks animal blood. And it's not bad. And I did resist human blood the one time I was near it!"

George looked very pleased with himself.

"...well, good for you." Rory just stopped himself from doing a thumbs-up. What did you say to that, really?

"Yes, but enough about me! Welcome to Hogwarts! Oh, you will love it here, as long as you don't accidentally shoot yourself in the foot!"

...more blinking. "Does that - happen a lot, then?"

"Oh, no, I think that was a one time deal. I'm sure the professor won't have a class on guns again."

"Do I want to know why he had one in the first place?" Probably not.

"Muggle Studies!" George said, beaming. "He teaches what it's like for non-magic folk!"

"...I see. A lot of people need teaching that, do they?" Well... he could think of one person who might, if you changed 'magic' to 'alien'.

"Well, some. I mean, the professor himself is from the future!" At least that's what George guessed when he used psychometry on the Baron's stuff.

"That's - probably the least weird thing anyone's told me so far."
