Application (The White Queen - Alice in Wonderland)

Mar 14, 2010 19:03

The large doors to the Sorting Room opened and the White Queen rushed in, hands up as she crossed the stone floor and ended with a small pirouette. She let out a sigh at the immaculacy of the room, “Oh, goodness gracious. This is quite fine, fine indeed.” She smiled. Lifting her head, she made her breezy way towards the desk she was needed at, a piece of parchment and a quill on its surface. She looked towards the fine chair and slipped in sideways, placing her rump on the well crafted upholstery. She smiled again, her pale face awash with the light in the Sorting Room, her eyes half lidded.

She leant forward,, hands still up, but not quite under management. She read the questions that presented themselves on the crisp parchment...

State your full name.

The White Queen looked down at the parchment, her hands up. “Well little quill-creature, I am Mirana of Marmoreal, the White Queen of Underland.” She watched, transfixed, as the quill scribbled and scratched at the parchment, marking her words.

1. What is your favorite cheese? Why is it your favorite?

“Oh, I am very partial to Pantysgawn, good strong goat cheese.” She smiled and looked up to the ceiling, hands still up in a theatrical manner.

2. Who would you kill first, Barney or Carrottop?

The White Queen was stunned. “Kill? Oh gracious no. I couldn’t. I took a vow to never harm a living thing.” To which a fly bee-lined towards her nose. She blanched, blundered out bursts of air and waved her hands to shoo the thing away.

3. What time is it where you are?

The White Queen looked out the window and sighed. “Oh,” she sighed, a smile on her dark lips. “It’s Brillig at the moment, a time for broiling things for supper.“ She thought about her lands words, and upon thinking that, being in this strange castle that her lands words may not be understood to those of the castle she said, “For Brillig is in the afternoon, around four o’clock I believe.” She said rather beamishly.

4. If you were Albus Dumbledore returned from the dead, which member of the Order of the Phoenix would you sexually harass? How would you harass them? If you are Albus Dumbledore, please answer as if you were Sirius Black.

“I’m sure I don’t know. I wouldn’t know where to start I’m afraid, should such an occurrence present itself.” She said wistfully, “As long as there was a champion, I’m sure all would be well and easily dealt with.”

5. If you are pushing to be in:

A. Slytherin - please state the clever, witty name of the bar in which you bartend, in the dark.

“I would name it ‘The King’s Messenger‘, but,” she blushed slightly, “well I couldn’t see myself in a bar, let alone bartend it. It’s rather an odd concept, wouldn’t you agree quill? That’s something I’d expect my bulbous headed sister to concoct. She’d engineer such tomfoolery just so some drunken heart could insult her, giving her an ends to a beheading.”

B. Gryffindor - Debate whether Harry should ultimately end up married to Fred or George. Use examples from a variety of world mythologies to bolster your argument.

The White Queen seemed at a loss. She didn’t know these individuals, so she answered simply and with a truth that was, to and extent, the ultimate honesty. “I can’t say I know such boys, but George, it’s a nice strong name. There has never been a King Frederick, and so I don’t believe such an animal would be the best suitor for this Harold.” She waited a moment, re-reading the mythologies section. She relied on the Underland way of hierarchy and came to the conclusion that any marriage would be superfluous as it is women that rule and so the marriage would, untimely, end in ruin. She left her answer as it was and smiled at the quill.

C. Ravenclaw - You guys are supposed to be smart. Explain why my desk is inundated with paperwork at all times, even though I’m constantly disposing of it.

The White Queen meditated on this. “Who is to say that the stack of paperwork isn’t perpetually unsorted, and that even upon your completion of said paperwork that you’re in fact, un-completing them for they are perpetually undone.” She sighed, waving a hand airily. “I have considered the dividing of a loaf with a knife, to what’s the answer for that? I am still looking for it’s answer.”

D. Hufflepuff - Prove you are not useless.

In an immeasurable moment in reality the White Queen seemingly lost her human shape and in that instance became a bespectacled sheep. She was still seated in the chair holding knitting needles. She seemed to become more like a porcupine for she was knitting with several knitting needles all at once. The bespectacled sheep gives the moving quill a pointed look, and seemingly smiles.

6. Offer a bribe to the members of this community so that they will not squib you. Items used in bribery do not necessarily have to belong to the person offering the bribe. Do not threaten us rather than offering a bribe. A threat indicates you either don't really want to be here, or don't have enough sense to answer the question properly. The hat will automatically squib you, regardless of other votes, if you do.

“I’m not one for bribery, it is one of the lowest forms of democracy,” she weighed the options, “however, should I comply with such democracy, I believe either of these would benefit.” She brought up the Vorpal sword in her left hand, her slim fingers holding it by its silver embossed hilt, in her right, connected like a pendant to the silver cord that entwined her fingers, was the vial of luminescent jabberwocky blood. She smiled airily.
