Application for Zato-1 (Guilty Gear)

A man stood in the sorting room. Two things were noticeable immediately upon looking at him for the first time.

Firstly, he had a fighter’s physic, visible through his tight clothes and what could only loosely be termed as a ‘shirt’. Second, he was blind. Whether he actually was blind or chose to wear the odd red contraption covering his eyes

Fuuka watched the entire exchange with mild fascination before pulling out her Evoker and summoning Juno.

Her eyes widened slightly as she saw that Eddie was very powerful, and while it was sort of similar to a Persona, he reminded Fuuka more of Aegis, a weapon created to fight Shadows. Fuuka thought this Eddie was something similar: a creature made specifically to fight something.

"Wouldn't it give away what you do if you named your bar that?" Fuuka asked, remaining inside Juno. Like I said, very powerful, and Fuuka wasn't taking any chances of it attacking her (since Juno likely has uber-defense like her predecessor Lucia).

Zato-1 tilted his head, turning it roughly in her direction. "People often underestimate the obvious," he said. He listened carefully, gauging where she was, all the small moves she made. "It would also make me easier to find."

Eddie stirred at his feet, attracted by the sense of a fighter he felt in Fuuka and the strange duality both Eddie and Zato-1 could feel in her.

"What if all it does is attract others like you that would want you out of the way?"

"I find nothing wrong with that, if they want to challenge me, then so be it, it's their funeral," he said, smiling a little. He seemed to have a lilt to his words, a Spanish accent most likely.

"Do you want me out of the way?" he asked, curious.

"No," Fuuka said, kneeling inside her Persona. "Even if I did, I am not a fighter, but the one who finds the weaknesses in an enemy."

"Hm...Then you have nothing to fear in me. Or Eddie." Eddie hadn't yet reached the point where he could overpower Zato-1, and the day he could would be the day Zato-1 died, so Eddie sank back into the shape of a normal shadow at Zato-1's silent command.

"Perhaps you could tell me where I am, instead?"

"This is Hogwarts School of Witchcraft or Wizardry." Fuuka dismissed her Persona, now that he says that he is not a threat. "It's a magic school in Scotland somewhere."

His eyebrows rise, though they aren't quite visible due to his blindfold. "Magic?" he says. He doesn't find it improbable, merely odd. He's not quite sure why he ended up here, of all places. "How strange."

"I don't think so. At my school, we were just beginning to learn the basic concepts and history of magic, so it makes sense that there'd be a school devoted to it, once I thought about it."

"Hm." It was a positive kind of 'hm'. He thought about it for a while, crossing his arms over his chest again, canting his head to the side a little further. he could see no further reason why he had to speak to the girl (if that was what she was, she certainly sounded young enough to be a girl) unless there were other things he needed to know.

"Since I've been accepted, I've done some research on the houses here," Fuuka continued. "Each person is placed in a house based on their strongest attribute. The four main ones are bravery, loyalty, ambition, and intelligence." Fuuka frowned. "The others are for not-so-nice people."

"Oh, lovely." Easier to pick out the shove-overs from the worthy opponents, he thought. "Pre tell, what determines who goes where in terms of the houses?" He leaned a little closer, honestly curious.

"Well, in the end, the Sorting Hat makes the final decision. He takes our votes into consideration, though."

Zato-1 didn't actually picture a literal hat when she mentioned it. Pity, he'll be in for a bit of a shock if he ever finds out it actually is a hat. Though compared to sentient bears, he has probably seen stranger. "So I see." He nodded his head in thanks, didn't say as much aloud.

"Well, I have no desire to vote you into an improper house, so, which one do you think you're suited to?"

[warriorzatoichi]

"Ambition," he said simply. He could have fit in any of the others, really, but ambition was his main trait. It was how he gained Eddie and why he entered the tournament.
