open Hospital Wing RP

Dr. Jørgen Krogshøj was known to his Copenhagen colleagues as Krog, which the translation charm like the TV show's subtitles converted neatly to its English equivalent "Hook". He'd taken to simply introducing himself as Krog, which the translation charm also grabbed and converted to Hook, and by now even such an easygoing man as himself would have ( Read more... )

Raistlin had long since given up on the idea of conventional healing to help his condition. This school seemed quite strange, perhaps he would at least try to see if magic would alleviate his racking cough and weakened physical condition. After all, it was magic that left him in such a state.

He tapped on the door, leaning on his staff heavily. "You are a healer?" he rasped.

"I'm a doctor. You don't sound too good. Chronic problem?"

The wizard pushed back the hood of his red robes and shook his head. Despite the cough that seemed to rattle him to his core, Raistlin's smirk was wry. "Yes. It has been a problem for some time."

Hook only nodded. "If we can't treat the cause, we can at least do something about the symptoms. Tell me what they are, please."

Raistlin figured his gold tinged skin would have been an obvious symptom, but by some miracle, he held his tounge.

"Since taking the test, I have been.. weakened," he whispered bitterly. "I have little strength." Being forced to rely on others when his own body failed him was a constant reminder of his own inadequacies and it rankled him.

A coughing fit nearly doubled the slim man over. When he was able to straighten, he wiped blood from his lips. "And there is the cough," he managed.

Hook observed the blood-wiping. "Let me take a swab of that and we'll run some tests. Know if you've suffered any lung damage? I'm guessing you characterize that cough as a wet one. Not a dry tickly cough."

Raistlin allowed the healer to take a sample of his blood before wiping his hand on the cloth he kept in his sleeve.

"Lung damage? I.. I do not know," he admitted. "The test nearly killed me, but I know little of the healing arts, so I fear I will be of little help in assessing the damage."

"Sounds wet to me, and blood's coming up. While you're here --" Hook unwrapped from clearly Muggle packaging a plastic cup with a lid, and handed this to Raistlin. "Hack up something nice for me. It's possible your systemic weakness is being caused by an infection in your lungs. We'll see."

He didn't feel the need to mention he was actually a neurologist by training and specialization, not an otolaryngologist. He had a feeling those terms wouldn't mean much to this wizard-robed man who spoke of an ominous test bringing on illness. Anyway, it wasn't like Hook had no competency in general medicine.

"I'll confer with Professor Snape about it, too, if you don't mind. In the meantime, I can ease the coughing and the attendant discomfort. Sit here and see what you can produce, and I'll be right back." He had to get the medicine from his locked store of Muggle stuff.

He took the small cup and nodded. Most of what the doctor had said meant little to him, as no one in his own world had heard of infections or systemic difficulties. He took a few deep breaths, feeling his chest tighten and burn.

By the time the doctor had returned, Raistlin had a bloody looking sample for him. "I do not mind," he whispered, his eyes were closed, his skin sheened with sweat. "Is there something you think you can do about it?"

While his mun took ages, Hook was prompt in his return.

"Toward alleviating your symptoms, I'd suggest these." He presented the items to Raistlin in order:

  • a cough potion
  • . "Snape made this one himself, and they say he's one of the most accomplished potions masters working today. That being said, if I had a cough as bad as yours, I'd sooner rely on this --
  • this proving to be a bottle of codeine-laced cough syrup. "The good stuff. Careful, you don't want to build up a tolerance," was Hook's commentary. "Use the other more often than this one if you can. And in the intervals between doses, you can have --"
  • RIIIIIIIIIIIIII-COLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. A bag of Ricola cough drops, sans the alpenhorn effects. "They don't taste half bad."

"Any questions?"

Raistlin accepted the bottles and the bag. "No, no questions. I thank you."
Again, he had no idea what he was taking, but the healer seemed competent enough and he was willing to try a different series of cures if it could rid him of the damnable cough. Raistlin gave a small bow to the doctor and left.
