Ever since learning that the house-elves were not in fact students, Igor had sometimes wanted to help set them free, and at other times had wanted to avoid all association with them.
He was curious about Midna, though.

"You don't look like the other house-elves."

"I am not a house elf!" Midna replied indignantly "I'm a Twili"

"Oh. I apologize." Igor said, shifting his weight awkwardly. "I wouldn't like to be taken for a house elf either."
He looked at the bottle of wasp larvae. "What are those things?"

"Apology taken"

She looked at the jar Igor looked at.

"These? They're some kind of bee larva. Some people use it to regain health or use it as fishing bait"

She looked at the larva, "But I can't see how someone would eat it though" she muttered in distaste

"Eat it?" Igor shared her distaste.
"I've never heard of anything like that before, but then I've never heard of Twilis."

He tapped at the jar "I'm supposed to be sorting you into a House- a place to live. There are about four- one for brave people, one for intellectuals, one for the loyal, and one for the ambitious. Where do you want to go?"

"Not many people have heard of the Twili. Some...flower took offence when I told her that I was a creature of darkness, but I'm not bad"

She thought about the different houses, she thought herself to be brave, she certainly came up with some good ideas, she was loyal to herself...and the Twili people, and she was ambitious but her ambition was to save her people

"Can you tell me more about these houses?" she pasued for a bit "and can you also tell me about 'Sparklypoo'?"

"Of darkness? You mean you like it better or you come from a very dark place?"

"Well, Ravenclaw has a lab and a bar. Slytheryn just has a bar, Griffendor has-um- a gym, I think. And Hufflepuff has food-libraries. As for Sparklypoo, there's a rumor it's cursed." He shrugged "I've never met anyone in the house, so I can't say."

"Well when I said that I was a creature of darkness I meant that my people are aligned with darkness. Hard to explain. But don't get scared or angry at me for being aligned with darkness, I'm not evil. I'm even trying to help save my people"

Midna was still feeling pretty angry about the talking flower taking offense over her alignment

"I don't think I'd need a lab, but a bar sounds interesting" She looked at herself "I definitely don't need a gym and a food library sounds boring. From what I've heard about Sparklypoo I intend to stay well away from it"

Igor still wasn't sure what "aligned to darkness" meant, but he nodded anyway. Midna was rather cute and possibly dangerous- Igor liked her.

"And don't worry- I'm sure you'll be better at evil eventually and able to free your people. I hope I can do that soon- maybe except for freeing my people..." he trailed off, remembering she still needed to be sorted.

"Slytherin, then? That's kind of dark. The rooms are underground."

"Thanks for the vote." Midna sighed. She always encountered this problem. As soon as people hear she's aligned with darkness they make the assumption that she's evil "My people aren't evil. Sometimes dark isn't as evil as you think it to be"

((Sigh- he really can be dense at times.))

Igor frowned in sympathy. "You feel like a charlatan, then? That's something I can understand."

Generally, he'd always assumed "evil"- the clever, ambitious sort was a good thing. After all "evil scientists" were his county's heroes.

"I don't feel like a charlatan. As I said, my people the Twili, they may be creatures of darkness and sure we may be selfish and ambitious but it doesn;t make us evil. We do what we can for our people." Midna's face darkened for a moment "Except for Zant"
