(( Hope you don't mind an actual playing out -- I saw Rutger Hauer and couldn't resist. :] ))

Roy was thrilled to read this notice. He was going to get a wand! And learn to do magic with it! It was going to be the best toy ever!

Navigating the Hogwarts halls and stairways proved to be a little more difficult than Roy had anticipated, but soon enough, he was at the Ancient Runes' professor's office. Without knocking, he opened the door and stepped inside, looking around curiously. He was startled to find a man already inside -- but more startling than his presence, was the uncanny resemblance he bore to Roy himself.

"I didn't know there were two of us here," he said, his eyes slightly narrowed with suspicion.

(( hee, awesome! No, don't mind at all, I just didn't want people to feel obliged to RP out trying wands from a shoebox if they had no other particular reason to see Wednesday. Multiplicity of Rutger Hauer ftw! ))

Wednesday's own eyes widened fractionally, but only fractionally.

"It's not a face I chose to wear," he said neutrally. "You can call me Wednesday. And you, sir, are ...?"

"Roy. Batty. And I didn't choose it either. Obviously." He eyed his look-alike up and down, taking cautious step closer. He knew that duplicates existed, but he'd rarely come into direct contact with any. His was a new and rather experimental type, it seemed, and thus quite rare.

"You should know my name. It should have been yours too, at least to begin with."

Roy cocked his head to the side. There was something different about Wednesday. Did the difference of their experience count for that much? Or was it something else? Roy couldn't put his finger on what was so unfamiliar about the other man. His eyes were two different hues, he noticed, although the difference was subtle -- but that wasn't it. It was something in his stance, maybe ( ... )
