Ofdensen, actually, was not here for reading. It strained his eye. He was here to get out of Hufflepuff and his desk.

Okay, and to get a couple Arithmacy books. There have been no classes for that yet.

Spotting the guy with the glasses looking like he needs an interruption, I hobble over to him. "So... will I trigger something if I wander over that way?" I ask, pointing at the Restricted Section. "Because that would not be good."

"I think..." he thought. "I think if you open a book and you don't have permission to be there, the book screams."

"That's kind of inconvenient," I answer dryly. "What do I have to do to get permission to be there?"

[charlesofdensen]

"Ask a teacher and they'd give you permission. It would probably depend on how much the teacher favors you, though, and what specifically you're researching."

"Fuck. I don't think I actually know any of the teachers here. Any recommendations for one who'd give me a free pass just by my asking?"

"Hm." Ofdensen thought a minute. "Professor Snape, former potions, current head of the Hospital Wing. Ron Weasley, he's Flying Professor. Homestar Runner, he's the joke of an Apparition teacher. Those are probably the best bets."

I consider that. "OK. Homestar Runner it is," I say. "Do you think he'll even notice I wasn't in that class when he offered it?"

"I'd be surprised if he remembered what he taught in that class."

"Were you there?" I ask. "What *did* he teach?" Maybe I can work it in to this note I'm about to send.

"Apparition, in the magical sense, is close to teleportation. Instead he told us about ghosts and told us to write an essay about why Santa Claus would beat the Terminator."

I get a fit of the giggles. "Are you serious? Santa beating up the Terminator? In what universe does this happen?" Clearly, I am going to be shocked when Santa is revealed to have mad skills, yo.

"In his own little world, clearly." Ofdensen was still bitter about that waste of time.

I grin. "Sounds like it," I acknowledge. "Well, thanks for the tip. I'll definitely send him an owl soon."
