Closed RP: You're PROPOSING?! I thought you were breaking up with me!

Brice was incredibly nervous.

That didn't happen to him very often. He was always suave and composed, if not on the inside then at least on the out, and he hoped that Mel wouldn't notice. The second she was out the door he'd started cleaning the place up until it sparkled. He'd been down to the kitchen, cooking like a demon (not literally; he doubted demons cooked very much) and gratefully accepted the House-elves' help in some matters. But only doing things like chopping and peeling; he wanted to do the actual cooking himself. That was how it was done.

Now the dinner was neatly set up at a table for two in the Room of Requirement. And okay, so the filet mignon had been slightly burned and yes, the baked potato was a little dryer than you would have wished, but the shallots and shiitake mushrooms had turned out pretty well and the wine-sauce smelled delicious. Hopefully it would be enough and Mel would not comment. They also had chocolate mousse and strawberries waiting for them after they were done. And then, hopefully, he'd have summoned up the courage to actually ask her.

Brice had gone all out. The RoR was romantically lit, with candles in silver holders on the table, and rose-tinted lights around the walls. The table was set with crystal and fine china, and on Mel's plate he'd placed a single red rose. Violin music hovered in the air, light and sweet.

With a slightly grumpy little sigh, Brice adjusted his sapphire-blue tie and dusted some invisible dust from his suit. He hated formal wear. But he'd wear it for her. Dammit, he was going to do this properly, and Mel liked him in a suit. He could manage for a while. On the plus side, the box with the ring fitted pretty well in one of the inner pockets of the jacket.

He'd pinned a note on the wall for Mel, so that she'd see it the second she came through the door. It was simple enough.

Babe,
I'm waiting in the Room of Requirement. Missed you.
- B

Underneath the note hovered a pink rose. Brice had put a charm on it to make it glow, which had left a few of the petals slightly singed, but hopefully she wouldn't mind.

And then Brice sat down. And waited.
