Devotion to Duty - Owl and Closed RP - Brienne and Simon, with special guest appearance by Dumbledor

Even Brienne realized the utter futility of keeping a vigil on the popcorn room in case one of the handful of people she wanted to see should emerge from that state of being. Which wasn't to say she wouldn't, if she had to. After all, they were all gone, all those to whom she was bound by duty. Lady Katelyn. Sansa Stark. Ser Jaime Lannister, although she wasn't going to dwell on that over much. Arya Stark was somewhere in the castle still, but Brienne hadn't seen her lately, and she wasn't sure if it was even her place to send the girl a note, or even where she should start looking.

She had no idea what she was to do with herself, aside from her solitary training sessions to keep herself in shape, and her now habitual patrol past the popcorn room to see if any of the people she was beginning to think of as her charges had begun to stir. She wasn't used to being at loose ends, and she didn't like it. She felt lost without some direction to go, some duty to perform, even if the duty were so small. And she would not be caught so unawares again.

It finally occurred to her that this was a place of magic, and perhaps the vigil she felt obligated to perform could go a bit easier.

She made her way up to the owlery, and after some finagling, finally managed to send off a quick note.

Professor Dumbledore,

I am told that you are one of the most formidable wizards at this school, and if anyone can answer a question, it would be you.

There are several people I have sworn oaths to who now are popcorn. Do you know if there is any spell that would give me some warning should they break the curse? I can send you a list if this is even possible, and of course I will pay whatever price you think appropriate for this information.

My thanks in advance,

Brienne of Tarth

Her duty having been thus completed, she should have felt better, but she didn't. She felt even more adrift than she had a moment ago. She was restless but there was nothing for her to actually do, so she left the owlery and made her way outside. A walk would at least give her some needed exercise.

She wasn't expecting company on her solitary walk, so she was a little startled to see someone else had had the same notion. She gave a polite nod and a wave to the man as she came abreast of him.
