"Originally I'm from a place that connects all other places. My job is to make sure things from other world that shouldn't get through yo other places don't, and solve problems when a particular universe is out of whack. As for Mary, she had died in very unfortunate circumstances, and they were stopping her, and consequently quite a few other spirits, from being able to rest. Not only that, but those spirits being there was seriously threating the very foundation of the hospital. Literally. They were causing earthquakes."
"I suppose I've traveled to so many different places and times that time has ceased to matter. Maybe it couldn't keep up with me. Or maybe because I chose to ignore it, it chose to ignore me."
"Lewiston, Maine. There was a hospital there with a little girl haunting it, and causing all sorts of problems. I made sure she was able to rest, which subsequently helped the hospital a great amount as well."
"Shinikami, is it?" Kusuriyuri says softly as he enters the sorting room again. If he were asked, he would admit to trying to find his way back to what is familiar. There is so much to adapt to. But, as he considers returning home, he also realizes that he does wish to remain here as well, even if nothing is as it should be. Or, rather, there is more truth than he knew of before.
"I have heard that word thrown around about me before, but to be honest I can't tell you if that's true or not. Mainly because it seems to me there are more conflicting rumors about what a shinigami really is than there are shinigami to clear it up. I think of myself more as a peacekeeper, a defender of stability. And sometimes doing my job includes taking, changing, or giving life."

Kingdom Hospital in Lewiston, Maine?
OK, maybe there were hospitals in different parts of the world that had identical names. St. Joseph's and St. Jude's, various names with religious significance for hospitals that had some church affiliation. Kingdom Hospital, though, that really surprised Hook. The name of Rigshospitalet came directly from its country's history. It had been founded in the 18th century, when it went under the name of Kongelig Frederiks Hospital, King Frederik's Hospital. As far as Hook knew, Lewiston, Maine, didn't have a king.
What really got to him, though, was --
"Mary Jensen?" What the ...?
That was the name of the ghost Hook had helped Mrs. Drusse to exorcise.
"She's been laid to rest. Mrs. Drusse saw to that," he informed the talking anteater. "At least we hope so."
Mrs. Drusse had later expressed fear that the hole in the wall might have been left open too long.
Antubis didn't remember seeing this man around the hospital at all, but he could feel in the man a connection to what happened there. He nodded in agreement.
"Your hopes are correct, Ringo. Mary is resting in piece now. Thanks to Sally and quite a few other people."
Hook didn't know anyone named Sally. In his world, Sally Druse was Sigrid Drusse. His brow furrowed.
"There wasn't any Sally there that I remember. Just me, Mrs. Drusse, and her son Bulder. He's an orderly. Glad to hear the job got done one way or another, anyhow." By hook or by crook, the old saying went. "While I don't particularly care if you call me Ringo, you'd be the only one. Most people call me Hook. Dr. Jørgen Krogshøj." Shortened to Krog, which meant Hook. "I'm a neurosurgeon at Kingdom Hospital in Copenhagen. Denmark. Not Lewiston in Maine."
Antubis looked confused, well, as confused as a large anteater can look, for a moment, but then figured it out. His Kingdom Hospital was not this Hook's Kingdom Hospital. They were just two universes very similar to eachother. He had seen it before.
"Ah, well, Sally is Mrs. Druse where I just came from. There's a Hook there as well, however, his name actually is Hook. I think you are from a place quite similar to where I just was, but different. I'm sorry to say I can't be one hundred percent sure that Mary is as safe there."
"No, I suppose it wouldn't matter to you." He couldn't help shuddering at the thought of eating something alive. "Why would you rather be an anteater, though?"

If it was eaten alive, he just might be sick. He has limits, after all.

He spied a small insect crawling between two cracks in a floorstone, and snapped it up with his long tongue.
