Nemi Montoya, Lise Myhre's "Nemi" comic

Apr 01, 2008 19:17

((While Nemi does know an awful lot of fandoms and refer to them from time to time, she is actually of the firm conviction that it’s, in fact, all real, and would never “out” a character as fictional. She is prone to fangirling. Fair warning to muns of attractive males. XD

Feel free to visit Nemi's journal, for shameless canon pimping!))

Cut for relevant comic strip. )

Mariella looks at the application, and then at Nemi. Someone else who gets Hogwarts-fever! She gravitates to the feather, holding it up questioningly.

Nemi checked out the blonde. She did not, in general, have good experiences with blondes. Well, blonde girls, anyway. Blond guys, she had no problems with at all.

She hadn't said anything stupid yet, but Nemi was pretty convinced it was just a matter of time. She blew out some smoke, and looked around vaguely for an ashtray, before looking at Mariella and the feather.

"Take it if you like," she said, shrugging, when things got too quiet.

Yay! Mariella smiles, twirls the feather in her fingers, and takes out her wand. Now, the reason she hasn't been around lately is because she's been having way too much fun learning magic. She aims the wand at the feather, looking at it intensely, and watches as the otherwise unremarkable feather becomes a quill.

She gestures with it to her cigarette, cupping her hand as if asking if Nemi wants an ashtray.

...Okay, not stupid yet. Nemi couldn't help perking up. Magic! REAL magic, no Siegfried and Roy illusions, but real, simple, transfiguration! So cool. She'd always known it was possible, if only you had the right tools.

"Alright, that was cool," she admitted, and followed Mariella's gesture to her cigarette. "Ashtray? Yeah. Don't want to litter this place." Really. It would be blasphemy.

She grins happily. Yeah. It's cool. Mariella pokes around inside her jacket pocket, to find a Strepsil case. She places her wand on it, and it grows to seven times it's original size. And isn't so much flimsy plastic, either. There.

Her quill is a special thing. You don't need to be told just how ecstatic Mariella was to find herself a prodigy at the magic-thing. She writes in the air now, and the quill exudes smoky grey writing that hangs there.

I'm Mariella.

Nemi stubbed out the cigarette in the case, thawing up to the blonde considerably.

"Hey Mariella," she said, leaning against the wall. "I'm Nemi. You got a... condition or something? Is that why you're not talking?" She was curious, and not particularly subtle when there was something she wanted to know.

She cocks her head. A condition, hmm hmm hmm. No. She just doesn't want to.

I just don't talk! Looking forward to Hogwarts?

Her big blue WASPy eyes have not stopped sparkling. Dressed all in black, with all Anglo-Saxon features tends to freak some people out.

O...kay. Not talking, just because she didn't want to?

"Scared of saying something stupid?" Nemi asked, arching one eyebrow.

She smiled hugely. "Oh yeah. Is it hard?" She nodded towards Mariella's wand. "Learning to use that?"

Mariella looks at her, and bursts into peals of silent laughter. Yes, it looks as weird as it sounds. C'mon, she almost slaps her knee.

When she's recovered, she looks at the wand and frowns, shaking her head. No. Not for her. It was easy; she always had the fizz inside that wanted to be used and let out.

It's different for everyone.

"Alright."

This was a weird blonde. Nemi approved of weird people, although Mariella was a completely different kind than she was used to. But hey, she had good taste in clothing, and she seemed reasonable, in her way.

"Do you think it'll be easy for me?" she asked curiously.

She steps back, and her deep blue eyes scrutinize Nemi from top to toe. She tries to be like Susan Sto Helit, and moderately succeeds. She gives Nemi 8/10.

Long black hair, pale skin, black clothing. She's practically Snape!

Do you like Potions?

Mmm, Snape... Okay, yeah. She would have to look into the existence of Snape too. And Draco, obviously. And... yeah, basically every male around.

Nemi shrugged. "Haven't really tried learning any before." She thought about her attempts at cooking, in which her fish balls had been so spicy Cyan had mistaken them for tandoori chicken, and wondered if Potions was in any way similar to cooking. Because if it were, they were all in trouble.

"How hard can it be?" she grinned.

She giggles then, and nods, spirals of stars shooting out of her wand. They form a smiley face, and then vanish. That's the right attitude to take. She taps the application.

Slytherin?

Nemi went starry-eyed.

"Slytherin..." she murmured happily, dreamily. The House that had the hottest guys, and the best taste in fashion, and... everything like that! Yes. Slytherin... Her precious...

She looks doubtful, for her part, watching the grey writing fade away.
'Slytherin? Are you sure? That's where the real psychos go, and although you're not like anyone else here you're not insane. Are you sure you wouldn't mind going into Ravenclaw, where your pint-downing ability would be welcomed and you'd learn much more magic?' her look seems to say.

That was a lot of stuff for just one look to say. Nemi didn't quite get it all, not surprisingly.

"...What?" she asked Mariella, knotting her eyebrows together.
