Not school, not home, not random city. It's a castle. Either she's dreaming or Konata (Kona-chan) is in an actual RPG. Great!

Oh, my, was she ever reminded of Maya.

"Putting off studying the night before doesn't always seem to work," Mia noted, amused in spite of herself. "But then I suspect you spend more time 'studying' anime."

"Chihiro!" As with Tomo, Konata pointed and grinned. "Can I have a picture with you? And I do fine. My grades are good, and as long as they are, who cares how much studying I did?"

Mia blinked and looked around, thinking for a second the girl was referring to someone else. "I'm sorry. Have we met? My name is Mia Fey. I think you've mistaken me for someone else."

"Oh! Mia!" This person was probably American, and more familiar with the English names, while Konata played through the Japanese first, then the English.

"Question still applies, can I have a picture with you?"

Well, yes, Mia was American. Despite the fact that everything in Kurain looked Japanese, yay localization.

"I don't see why not," Mia answered, bemused. "Might I ask your name, miss?"

She didn't recognize the girl, but that didn't mean anything.

"Konata Izumi. I like your magatama," Konata added as the house elf came back and snapped another picture.

Mia, of course, had her arms crossed in the photo. "Thank you, Miss Izumi. I've had it for as long as I can remember. Is there a reason you're so insistent on taking pictures?"

"Is there a reason I shouldn't be insistent on taking pictures?"

It has yet to occur to Konata that this is not normal.

"Well, I'm flattered, but I guess I'm not used to strangers wanting to take my picture," Mia said. Non-perverted strangers, anyway, and while this girl seemed a bit odd, Mia doubted that was the reason. "I'd think there'd be more interesting photography subjects, but that's just me."

Konata liked playing Gyakuten Saiban, so her opinion was different. As with Zel, she made a silly face.

Mia just smiled, amused by the girl's enthusiasm more than anything else.

"So did you intend to come to this school, Miss Izumi? Or did you just find yourself here as well?"

School? Ohhhhhh, this must be part of the RPG.

"I decided to come here!" Okay, she lied, but if she had the option of not coming, she would have chosen to come anyway.

So wrong and yet so incredibly accurate at the same time.

"Oh, my. That's very admirable of you, coming all the way here just to study magic," Mia says with a perfectly straight face.

MAGIC? Ohgodyes!

"And Kuroi-sensei can't tell me to not slack off either!" Well, Konata found that a plus. Although there are a few teachers that would say the same thing. But they probably don't play the same online game that she's on.

"Unless that's one of the teachers here, I don't think you have to worry about that," Mia said, recognizing the honorific. "Of course, I have yet to meet any professors, so I could be wrong." She'd heard vaguely about a hat-wearing professor who might have some knowledge of dinosaurs, but that was about it.

"Oh I doubt that. If I'm going to school here, I'm not going to school there, and she would have talked to me if she beat me here, which honestly wouldn't surprise me, and I'm not sure if this school has a good internet connection to play my online game, so she can't pester me there."
