This place had a radio station? Wow, what fun! Misa had done enough radio interviews that it didn't seem so daunting, ad what better way to meet everyone than by doing a radio show?
A crackle, and her voice went out over the airwaves....
"Hello Hogwarts! Merry Christmas to everyone from Misa-Misa! And it is Misa's birthday, so it is an especially happy day! So Misa will play happy music for everyone! But first, there was a girl at Misa's sorting who asked Misa to sing, only that was not a good time. But Misa-Misa will sing now!"
And she had just the song, too. Carefully, she sang the Japanese translation of
"On My Own", from Les Miserables.
"Oh, but that was no good! Misa promised happy songs! Here is a nice and cheerful Christmas song!"
Murray Gold,
"The Stowaway" (lyrics) That was better. With a smile that could be heard in her voice, Misa continued.
"And now for some more happy music!"
Kirsty MacColl,
"They Don't Know" (lyrics) Well, that was certainly cheerful, but it made Misa feel a bit wistful. It wasn't entirely a bad feeling, though, and she figured she might as well continue in that vein. It'd only be worse if she tried not to and did anyway.
The Primitives,
"I'll Be Your Mirror" (lyrics) ...something about that song... it was like it was trying to remind her of something. No, it was no good, she couldn't figure it out. "That song is so sweet! Misa will play another love song!"
Pat Benatar,
"Wuthering Heights" (lyrics) ...whoops! That wasn't what she'd meant to play!
"Oh no! Misa is so sorry! Misa wanted to play another happy song! Please listen to this next song and be happy!"
Shonen Knife,
"Daydream Believer" (lyrics) Yes, that was much better, and Misa breathed a sigh of relief as it played. Maybe she should try to find something that wasn't a love song? Yeah, that was probably a good idea...
Folk Underground,
"City of the Damned" (lyrics) "That was a fun song, wasn't it? Even if the name makes it sound scary, it is cheerful to listen to! But this next song has happy words too."
Horslips,
"Everything Will be Alright" (lyrics) Soothed, she ventured another love song; a peppy, poppy one.
Yaz,
"Only You" (lyrics) Better, better. Only a little melancholy.
"And it is Christmas! So I should play another Christmas song!"
They Might Be Giants,
"Santa's Beard" (lyrics) "Merry Christmas, everyone!"
She reached for another song at random.
"Megumi no Ami (A Little Fall of Rain)" Les Miserables, Japanese Cast
...oh, shit.
Troubled, Misa glanced around the room, and cheered up at the sight of a small pile of notes. She grabbed a couple off the top. Oh good, requests!
"This is a request for..." She did her best to read the note as written. "I AM BEOWULF. I'M HERE TO REQUEST A SONG FOR THE LAKE MONSTER." Sunset Rubdown, "
For the Pier (And Dead Shimmering) (lyrics) That went well! She read off another.
"Agent Cooper wishes you all a very merry holiday, if you celebrate at this time of year. If not, please consider this an IOU for the holiday of your choice. Remember that sometimes the simplest pleasures are the most fun! I suggest a good game of bingo." Jens Lekman, "
Friday Night at the Drive-In Bingo"
(lyrics) And that, Misa thought, would do for now.
"And remember to call in and say hello! Misa would love to meet everyone, and play all of your requests!
