Soichiro is taken from when he died, which is five years after L and Light were taken from. He is not aware of this yet, but when he is, he'll try to keep as much from them as possible.

Soichiro also still has his shinigami eyes, meaning he will be able to see a person's true

"This isn't the afterlife." Nope, afterlife was nothing, just nothing. Jack knew, he'd seen enough of it. "Doubt you know my name." Because Jack has to be the annoying one whenever possible.

((Jack Harkness isn't his real name, canon doesn't give him a real name as yet, and he has a pesky problem of being immortal.))

Jack raised an eyebrow, slightly worried, though he wasn't going to let it be known he was. That name... well he just preferred Jack Harkness a lot more. "Alternate dimension, the past, future..." Jack could ramble on about this. "Personally I'd favor diverging time lines that you might have seemed to have died but the point before it happened you appeared here." He shrugged. "What do I know about that though, I'm still in my world and time, sorta. Though you can trust me about the whole death issue. I've died once or twice too. So afterlife, this isn't it. This has people, things, it's kinda fun sometimes too."

"All right then, if this isn't the afterlife, then what is today's date? I may be able to make more sense of this situation if I know what today is, Mr......"
Well, since he didn't want to be known by that name, there must be something he calls himself.

"Captain Jack Harkness." Emphasis on the Captain then, sadly Jack doesn't take to being called mister by anyone at any time.

"8th or the 9th December, anyway it's December 2007, nearly Christmas." Again there was a slightly bitter tone to his voice, not so much fun when everyone he loves had gone to popcorn or just gone and left him. "Linear time, get's a bit boring to keep track of after a while."

"Gryffindor is apparently for the emo or heros or the emo heros, Ravenclaw the drunks, it has a bar and a lot of doctors, Hufflepuff psychos, says something that one of my team ended up there, and Slytherin, well it's for those who try to be evil." Gryffindor suited Jack from his explanation. "So take your pick, really."

Emo or heroic? Well, he certainly went through enough angst about whether Light was Kira to qualify (He still thinks Light's innocent). Heroic, though? He couldn't judge for himself.

Drunk? Not in a good long while.

Psycho? Certainly not. At least, Soichiro hoped not.

Evil? He's not evil.

"Given the choices, Gryffindor may be my best bet."
