It was supposed to just be a quick two-day trip to London. Lily had some research materials coming in, a couple of boxes of supplies to pick up, and she wanted to talk to a bloke at St. Mungo's about a new burn paste. Also, there was a quick stop in to a dodgy little shop in a dark alley to get some information on Animagus transfigurations gone wrong. Just in case.
On her first evening there, as Lily was window shopping and looking for something special to buy to surprise Sirius, she noticed a line-up of people waiting to get into what appeared to be a theatre of some kind. Slightly bored and with nothing better to do, she waited with them out of some vague curiosity and hope that perhaps she'd get some free sample or something.
What she got was a life changing experience.
Of course she recognized
Dr. Phil. But talk shows weren't really Lily's thing; she often flipped past them on the telly to watch the Food Network or a soap. But as she sat in the darkened theatre, watching the man himself give advice on relationships and taking control of ones own life, Lily realized that she had been missing out.
As Dr. Phil said, it is your choice to not embrace your own destiny.
And it was so true.
Loaded down with Dr. Phil merchandise and the wisdom of that good 'ol boy from Texas' words, Lily returned home a new woman. Bursting into her and Sirius' suite, she tossed all her purchases down and, once she'd determined that Sirius wasn't home, went out onto the grounds.
Sirius enjoyed the outdoors, his freedom, and for very good reason. Lily was positive that on a gorgeous summer day, that's where she'd find him. Indeed, after a few minutes of searching, she spotted her man a little ways ahead.
Legs churning, a delighted smile on her face, Lily did her very best tackleglomp. Arms wrapping around Sirius' neck and legs around his waist, she covered his face in quick kisses. "Hey, babe," she grinned. Merlin, it was good to be home.
