red bull dragsterday....and other stuff
So last weekend was red bull dragster day! It was definetly a good time! (theres tons of details and stuff not in this entry. It's long enough as it is!) On friday, after school, matt and i went to his house to finish up some work on the dragster and we got ready to go. I felt all pretty (thank you for letting me borrow your skirts april! :) ) Matt and i drove the truck with the dragster on the bed and Jeff B and Megan drove matt's car. We drove to Jefferson and Woodward and it was insane! everything was pretty much blocked off, traffic was crazy! but we made our way through barricades and going the wrong was on a one-way street on purpose to get to where we dropped off the dragster. So we got all of that stuff done with setting it upand signing in, including getting a snazzy "racer" pass and a wrist band we had to keep on all weekend.
Matt and i checked into the Athenium hotel which was sooo nice! i felt like a tourist taking pictures of everything, hah. When we checked in, the lady told us we had the two suites for two nights instead of one! :) We got a tool box with shirts in it and duct tape, haha. that was cool. We put our stuff in the one suite and then explored while i took pictures of more things. we also got two more boxes of red bull from the room service guy. We went to fishbones resteraunt that was attatched to the hotel. We had a nice dinner and i was so happy to be there with Matt. They had this live laid back band playing and a waterfall. it was cute.
Jeff W and Jeff K came to the hotel and we met them in the lobby. We took them to their room, and had an incident with the minibar, haha.We went back to the other room and talked. Jeff and Jeff went back to their room and then eventually matt and i fell asleep. I hardly ever get to experience this so being able to sleep next to matt and wake up in his arms was a really really nice feeling :)
We woke up early, got ready, and went to the race. There was a meeting and a breakfast. Then the creative judging began sometime after that and all of the public got to walk around, look, and vote on their favorite cars. Megan, Mr.Buchman and i passed out Leis to represent "team laid back". it was funny. we passed out soooo many it seemed! The race started and we had to wait awhile for our first run. We were up against "the rodent racer" aka "89xpress". It was much bigger than ours but ours was much faster and we won!! :) Then we were up against Lawrence tech's dragster. The race started out awesome and we were beating them(there is a picture to prove it) with our best time yet (21-22 mph) then the chain in the dragster popped off, Matt's foot hit the ground and he slammed into the siding of the race area!! :( It sucked soooo bad....but at least we knew we could have beat them! So the rest of the race went on and cyclepath special won. After cleaning up everything, jeff and jeff left and jeff and megan took the dragster back home and then brought blimpie subs back for matt and I. We all went to the after party at a club on the roof of a club on 5th avenue. There were fireworks at comerica park and the club is connected to the park so we saw the fireworks and it was nice. We went back to the hotel and we were both really tired and decided to sleep.
We checked out the next morning, went to lunch @ applebees , then went home. It feels so weird that it's over. But it was an awesome experience full of hard work, money, and free stuff from redbull, haha. I'm so proud of Matt for doing this and having one of the fastest, nicest looking dragster there! :) That's all i have to say about that.
School is fine by the way, i like it much better than high school so far, not many complaints from me. the quizzes and tests make me really nervous, but i'll just have to deal with that. I hope that goes well though. I hope that next semester i'll actually take some classes that interest me more!
On a sad note, My cousin's baby died on Wednesday :( she was premature and after holding out for almost a week and after a surgery, they couldnt do anything else for her and they took her off the respirator :( i was so sad.... i dont really want to go into how i feel about it right now, too much to say.
