Transmutation - 002 [accidental video]

Dec 29, 2010 19:04

[Hohenheim is back in Liore, helping with the reconstruction efforts. There are some tools that he's repairing with alchemy, though there are no arrays or transmutation circles to be found anywhere. He doesn't even need to clap his hands to perform the transmutation. A teenage boy makes his way through the crowd. Judging by the suitcase he's ( Read more... )

Hah... That's strange. I wasn't even aware that I had the camera on the whole time... But the device was in my pocket, so I wonder how it took such a clear shot?

It does that, sir. Somehow.

Ah... The community's doing, I suppose?

I'll have to ask Naoto to deliver the bird to Edward, since I'm really in no position to do so myself...

Yes, sir.

I'm sure she'd be happy to, sir!

I wonder how it manages to do that...

She's very helpful, isn't she? Not meddlesome at all.

I don't know. It shouldn't be able to, but?

[Considers that for a split second.] No, no. [Absolutely no fond sarcasm in those negatives, not at all.]

The community is a very mysterious entity...

I'm glad that she was able to look after you all. Isn't it strange? Just when things look bleak and you have nowhere else to turn, someone always comes along to lend you a helping hand.

[And Winry is considering Mr. Hohenheim's meddling as well. All in all, maybe it's best there are some meddlers in her life.]

Maybe it's not so strange. Maybe it's just instances of caring.

Perhaps. It feels as though I've spent my entire life relying on the kindness of strangers. That's why I have to do my best to repay that debt of kindness to others... to pay it forward, so to speak.

[Blanche DuBois, anyone?]

That's a good attitude to have, sir.

[Yes! But with less neuroses! ...I hope.]

It's the only way for people to coexist in society, I think. Human beings are social creatures. We can't survive alone. We depend on others for things like food, shelter, companionship, protection. Everyone takes something from others. So it's vital that we repay that debt, or else we can gain nothing in return. To depend on others, and to become the sort of people others can easily depend on... That's something that everyone should strive for.

"Normal" people...? Ah... Normality is so subjective, though...

Mm, it is. Considering the people in the community alone....
