Yay, final part of the final week of the Android course on FutureLearn is done, it finished with a 3 part test and I actually did quite well - first part was a basic knowledge of concepts for which I got 96%, second part had that nasty maths stuff and some simple programs to work though and I scored lower, 83% and the last part was a mixed bag which gave me 87%. It was all multiple choice with 3 chances at each question so I only got 2 of them completely and utterly wrong (nested loops, argh), but i'm still pleased with high scores, would have been happy with anything over 70%
So that's it for coding, with them at least, there's a basic Java one on the Udacity site that I might poke at, though I'm not sure about the BlueJ environment they want you to use, I might just work through the Java for Dummies book with the code examples instead, or there's various youtube tutorials etc.
Next up with FutureLearn is
Kitchen Chemistry, using everyday ingredients to perform simple experiments. I wasn't going to sign up but then watched a BBC Four documentary about early scientists exploring and discovering the elements and was intrigued so I'm going for it. The way FutureLearn is so interactive with the other students, if there are experiments I'm not happy doing (fuzzy headed, shaky hands or concerns about allergic reactions) I can just read what everyone else has done instead so it should work ok. And I have my study pal
ganimede back again to help me out so its all good!
For the first week we need a teabag (the kind with string and a tag attached), a saucer and matches or a lighter... how mysterious! :)
