We shouldn't complain about the heat, given the alternative is rain, and I'm really not averse to blue skies and sunshine, just wish it wasn't quite so warm (30 degrees in my room most days, even with the window and fan on) because the heat doesn't seem to suit my health, so I have done very little this past week in favour of zoming out, napping or ( Read more... )

It has got very warm all of a sudden and I think it's going to be like this for at least next week as well. My bedroom gets the sun from about 11 till it sets so it gets really warm in there. I just do the same thing we used to do in Germany: close the curtains and windows until the sun is setting and it's cooled off, and then open them both as wide as possible to let the cool air in. It really does help.

Oh, a book series you might like is the Stravaganza series by Mary Hoffman. I can't remember if I've recommended them before. I just got hold of the last book which only came out recently so I'm rereading all the ones before it for about the 4th time :)

Luckily my room is at the front of the house so once the sun has woken me and baked me in my bed it eventually moves around and leaves me alone :) I know the curtains/blinds trick but would have thought opening the window was more logical? Though i guess if the air is too still it wouldn't help, I've got a fan playing that seems ot work well with the window. Pulling the kitchen blind down cools it by several degrees, tis amazing from such a simple action!

Ooh, not come across those *makes a note* thankyou! Will go poke amazon to find out more :)
