Icky Cold, Blogging & One Quick Town Trip

Urgh, I don't mind not updating LJ cos I'm too busy having fun but its less good when the reason is being icky and ill with a very nasty cold. Which has been the case for the last ten days or so, most frustrating! In fact I've hardly done anything at all apart from coughing and snuffling and producing enough snot for a paddling pool if not worse, plus much napping and zoning out..

Still and all, on the odd occasions I've come round I've sat out in the garden enjoying the sun and listening to pretty music on my phone via the Amazon cloudplayer, and I've updated my doll blog a few times and created a facebook page for same (A Doll's Day for both), oh and a Flickr account. And I managed to sort out a good deal on my phone contract, cutting the monthly cost by 2/3rds which is excellent, and will help me save up for the much-desired Nexus 7. You can blame tanngrisnir for that one, I coveted his but decided I couldn't afford it and wouldn't make use of one, and then the thought of same has tantalised me pretty much since then. Especially since I had my eyes on a budget tablet I worked out I *could* afford with some creative use of special offers and Tesco vouchers - until that is I watched a Youtube video review showing it running alongside a Nexus and it dawned on my just why the cost differential was so great, cheapy one had such low-res graphics compared to the real thing. Le sigh.

I finally got out of the house on Friday, felt well enough to essay the bus and head to Liverpool One and John Lewis where I got hands-on time with.. yes, a Nexus. Well, with my screen issues (remember the Kindle's screen actually caused a seizure!) I needed to double check it wasn't going to make me feel light-headed or nauseious. I mean, tanngrisnir's one didn't but he hardly let it out of his sticky paws long enough for me to be sure ::giggle:: But all is well, the graphics/screen res are bright and clear and cause no problems, reading books on it is fine, as is watching videos and presumably gaming also, though I didn't get to try that out properly as the one in the shop only had the basic stuffs on it, but I watched the Monsters Inc trailer on Youtube with no problems so yay, Nexus-y goodness will be mine. Er, once I've saved the pennies, of course... :)

I didn't have much oomph to do anything too strenous in town mind you, was pondering lunch out but ended up just grabbing a strawberry frappuccino in Starbucks then heading up to Chevasse Park to drink it quietly in the sunshine.. it shows how long it is since I was there (dratted cold), the trees are now in leaf and they were not a month ago!

And then I had to have another sit down before reaching the taxi, but that was ok because the big steps up to Chevasse Park are very handy and nicely spaced for sitting on, as a myriad other folk were demonstrating, and there was a rather talented busker playing his guitar in front of John Lewis (not sure if it was accident or design but that area is like a natural stage, with the steps for the "audience") and singing Beatles songs and then I was about to move off and he started on Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here so I sat back down and chilled out. I'd likely have stayed for ages despite wanting to get home and nap, but luckily he started on a Barry Manilow song - exit hobbits stage left ::giggle::

Fingers crossed I'll be back to my normal self this week and able to get out somewhere at some point, fancy going down by the river and then having lunch at Brasco Lounge one day.. we shall see.
