He was sixteen, on his way home from school. He’d gotten caught up in a protest march ending in the town square, where silence descended as a man spoke of change. Of getting fair wages for the dangerous work in the mines and factories of their home Colony. The dawn of a new era, where everyone would be heard. Young Meier listened, enraptured, to the handsome young man with the flashing eyes and the clever tongue.
When his parents learned where he’d been, they were angry and disappointed, their punishment unusually harsh.

After another meeting on Colonial One, Lee’s flying Zarek back to his ship, when he catches the other man looking.
“You wanna fly?” Lee asks on a hunch.
Zarek looks startled. “Me? I can’t fly.”
“I’ll teach you.”
He gets out from behind the console. Awkwardly, Zarek takes his place.
“Shouldn’t I wear a suit? What if I crash into something?”
“It’s still on autopilot. If you do something wrong, just let go, it’ll auto-correct,” Lee says
“Why do they still need people to fly these things then?”
“Dropping the bombs.” Lee smirks. “Which I won’t be teaching you, of course ( ... )

“Not what you expected, is he?”
Zarek’s leaning against the bulkhead outside the President’s office.
“Mr. Vice President,” Felix greets coldly.
“We both know procuring whores for Baltar isn’t what you signed up for, Felix.”
“What do you want?”
“He needs to sign that order, allow people back on the ships.”
“What makes you think I can convince him?”
“I know you can’t. But you could let him sign it later tonight, when he’s more... receptive.”
“Are you crazy? That’s a coup!” Felix hisses.
Zarek sighs.
“I’ll be here when you change your mind.”

I agree, they definitely should've shown more of the link between them on the show.

The intensity in his gaze makes her want to step back, except she’s already got her back to the wall.
“Mr. Zarek,” she replies coldly.
“Always the ice queen. Don’t you ever tire of that?”
He steps closer, stroking her cheek with the back of his hand. She can smell his arousal, and it sends shivers of fear down her spine.
“Madam President, are you all right?”
Lee. Thank the Gods.
Zarek steps back, smirking.
“Of course. We were just chatting,” he says, “now that we’re friends.”

Tom finally manages to catch her alone on her way back from the bathroom.
“Laura.”
The time for flirting is past.
“Mr. Zarek,” she says coldly. Playing hard to get.

In truth, these games, they turn him on. He steps closer, stroking her cheek with the back of his hand.
