Hiking out

Apr 19, 2007 17:09

Sunday we shopped for food.

Monday had us going trashing over in Scott, and not much was there this week. Tuesday we trashed a little bit in this area, and it got Boomer to thinking of how it used to be, knowing the trash days in different areas, and biking to them or having to walk. Now with a car, trashing is so much easier.

On Wednesday it was a big hiking day, and we took along a portable black and white TV that was found the day before, to smash it somewhere. It was from 1976 and it worked woof a little, but the picture was all distorted, giving folks cone heads. We took the TV to the dump, where the Collie threw a brick through the tube, as seen on Youtube here:

Here is a strip of pictures, like viewing the brick in slow motion:

After that we explored over a hillside on Kearns, where folks had been dumping things for years. There were white wall tires that Hob thought were from the 1950s, a totally rusty lawn mower and a V-8 engine, old bottles, and a TV chassis with tubes still in it, even though most of the frame was rusted away. Before we met, we always wanted someone else to share these things with.

We did smash the TV, but what we were really out to do was get a tire for a bike that Hob found in the Tuesday trash. The back tire blew out when the Collie pumped it up and then tried to ride it. There was a smashed bike in West End with a tire that could fit, so we brought the whole bike back home.

It was late for dinner by the time we got back, so we ordered Gyros from Niki's to pick up. After eating, Hob replaced the tire and inner tube on the first bike with the ones from the second, and it worked woof great. Now the bike has one black tire, and one white, Border Collie colors. We went riding for a little while after midnight.
