Every day is like the weekend

Friday it was a clean up day, and waiting for the social workwoofer. In the afternoon we smashed a toy car under the wheels of a big car and had a laugh. I know, we like to roll toy cars on strings, but this one had a broken suspension and other things wrong.

Later at nightfall we went down Kearns Ave toward West End to look at another old house we had seen, a 3 story house on the main road down there. We wanted to look through the window and take a picture or two, but someone had turned the power on, and boarded the windows up, just a few days after we saw it first.

Then we looked at the CROM building, and a bridge over a creek that had been taken out, and just the end supports were left. Back on Kearns, the other house had a new front window now, it looked like. On the way back the weather was getting cold, so Hob wanted the shortest way back, and I barked that would be Green Tree Road from where we were.

We checked a dumpster at the karate school and found a whole computer in it. Boomer grabbed the main computer unit, and Hob carried the sub woofer, and half way back we stashed the stuff off of the road in some weeds, with Hobnose guarding, keeping her 'Collie eye' on it, while Boom fetched the car.

We loaded what Hob had, then went back for the monitor, keyboard, and the main speakers. The computer was sitting in water, but not much water at all had gotten inside for some reason, but the mouse, one main speaker, and the sub woofer had water pouring out of them. Back at my house we took the back off of the monitor and opened the sub, and had a space heater blowing air into them all night.

Everything but the keyboard works woof, and I have the speaker system on my main computer now, it's great. The only problem with the pc was that the processor chip's heat sink has broken clips, and so it doesn't stay on right. The sink is just laying on the chip with some silver grease on it, just to see if it would work woof. It has Windows 98, on a 1.7 Ghz P4, not bad for a trash find.

Computer find

Saturday we went to the flea market at Parkway Center, but it was later and cold, so most of the vendors outside had packed up. Inside, Boomer found a Westbound Disco Sizzlers album, and a 12 inch single, Kate Bush, Running Up That Hill, which is pretty rare to find around here. Boom recorded all of the music to the computer and CD. Later in the evening Ric called, thinking about coming over, but it was a no-go, because it was too late to be here in time for It's Alive.

It's Alive was playing a Boris Karloff trilogy of stories, and Boom's favorite was 'The Telephone', the last the crew said was a Tolstoy story and it was a sleeper. We didn't like how the old man made someone kill his favorite hound because he was barking.

Sunday we went to Giant Eagle for food, then worked woof on the computer that was found, but didn't do much else because it was rainy and cold, but we watched lots of Youtube, with Hobnose especially being into songs played backwards and misheard lyrics.

Later, Bruce came over with a function generator, wondering how to set it up for use. In electronics, a FG creates all kinds of scientific waveforms for testing other equipment, like square, triangle and sine waves.
